About the opportunity
As our Maintenance Technician you’ll be directly reporting into the Technical Manager & Leads. You’ll be responsible for conducting maintenance activities associated with the Mail Processing Equipment, such as corrective, predictive and preventative maintenance, as well as improving reliability. You may also be required to use SAP, to process stock orders and ensure all plant and material maintenance transactions are accurately recorded.
About the facility
As part of the Victorian Technical Services team, you’ll play a key role in maintaining mail processing equipment across two key regions: the South East and the North West. Our network includes nine automated facilities, from Dandenong through to Geelong. Our two major centres are: the Dandenong Letter Centre (DLC), which handles letters and small parcels, and the Melbourne Parcel Facility (MPF), dedicated exclusively to parcel processing. Technicians will travel between sites as required, supporting a network that processes up to 1.2 million items per day and completes approximately 60,000 maintenance operations annually. With more than 100 team members across Victoria, you’ll be part of a highly skilled group keeping Australia Post’s essential operations running smoothly.
The type of machinery you can expect to be working on at this facility is automation systems and conveyers controlled by PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) & VFD (Variable Frequency Drive). Including Network communications and digital address recognition computer systems, and other modern technology.
You'll be
- Keeping our processing machines running at peak performance through preventative, corrective, and predictive maintenance
- Diagnosing and repairing complex faults to ensure smooth operations
- Understanding maintenance management systems, maintaining accurate records in SAP for efficient planning
- Prioritising safety and compliance in everything you do
- Provided ongoing coaching and development from experienced technical leaders
About you
- Qualifications: Certificate III in Electrical or Mechanical Trade + a current Electrical Licence or Restricted Licence.
- Experience in the diagnosis, repair and monitoring of mail processing equipment and systems is highly regarded
- Exposure to PLC & VFD is also advantageous, but not essential
- Proven ability to work independently without supervision
- Experience working in a team environment, liaising effectively with operations & other stakeholders to achieve high levels of machine performance
- Understanding of communication systems and information technology
- You're flexible with working additional hours if required

- Competitive Salary: Earn between $84,000 to $104,000 annually, depending on qualifications & experience. Potential earnings could exceed $110,000 (with penalties and overtime). We offer a clear pay structure based on your qualifications, with a guaranteed annual pay increase.
