About the Opportunity

Are you passionate about safety and ready to step into a role that combines expertise with leadership? We’re looking for a dynamic, experienced Safety Advisor to support our Brisbane North, and QLD Regional territories as a Senior Safety Specialist. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is eager to grow professionally and make a significant impact on safety outcomes within our organisation. This position will be based on-site at our Northgate, Brisbane office with frequent travel to Sunshine Coast and Northern QLD Australia Post sites as required. 

In this role, you will be instrumental in empowering leaders to take ownership of safety across their business units. You’ll be offering expert advice, coaching, and mentorship to enhance their safety practices and foster a culture of excellence. What You'll Deliver with Us

As a Senior Safety Specialist, you’ll be at the heart of our safety strategy. You’ll build and maintain strong relationships with various stakeholders, service providers, and regulators to ensure best practices in safety, culture, and compliance. Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Developing safety plans that align with strategic objectives, emphasising leadership and engagement
  • Supporting the implementation of WHS initiatives and ensuring adherence to safety standards
  • Driving the delivery of complex safety projects and investigations
  • Collaborating with business leaders to improve safety metrics and address exposures effectively


Your Role Will Involve:

  • Cultivating trusted partnerships with operational leaders to implement safety initiatives
  • Offering expert advice and ongoing coaching to drive sustainable safety improvements
  • Overseeing the local implementation of safety management systems
  • Supporting managers in conducting thorough incident investigations
  • Developing risk initiatives that align with our safety strategy and sharing safety learnings to foster a robust safety culture
  • Analysing incident trends and identifying opportunities for improvement

 

About You

You’re an exceptional communicator with a knack for building relationships and fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. You thrive on feedback and are open to innovative ideas. Your leadership style is rooted in coaching and mentorship, and you have a track record of making a tangible difference in safety practices.  


Key Qualifications and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in WHS or a related field (undergraduate or postgraduate)
  • 5-10 years of experience in safety roles within large organisations, including unionised settings
  • Strong skills in interpreting and implementing safety regulations, standards, and policies
  • Proven expertise in investigation, auditing, and developing safety solutions
  • Experience in strategy development and safety plan execution with positive outcomes
  • Strong influencing and relationship-building skills, including experience with unions and HSRs
  • In-depth knowledge of safety legislation, logistics, and operations
