About the opportunity
This is a supervisory position leading a small and important team of 3 people at the Bowen Delivery Annexe, reporting into the Delivery Manager based in Townsville. This job is a hybrid position of indoors and outdoors; delivering, prioritising safety, performance, and service levels. The job requires some indoor sorting work, some indoor desk work, and some physical outdoor work. You’ll be working together with a friendly team of likeminded people, and your community relies on you, and it doesn’t get better than that! 


About You
You h
ave strong communication and interpersonal skills to ensure effective workplace relationships, provide leadership, and contribute to the development of the team. You're motivated to bring the best out of the Bowen team under your guidance and also not afraid to be hands on and do deliveries daily. You are comfortable speaking to people at all levels within the business and can effectively have supportive conversations about performance and business goals. 
This position is suitable to someone who likes to keep fit and active. Daily deliveries are a part of this position with 5-6 hours outdoors. There is a lot of driving, dismounting, and walking involved as part of the delivery requirements. You will be trained on one of our Australia Post Electric Delivery 3 wheel-vehicles, so a car licence is required for this job.


You will be
  • Starting your day early in the morning sorting both mail and small parcels
  • Loading your vehicle with your deliveries for the day to deliver outdoors to homes and businesses
  • Promoting a safe workplace and implementing best work practices and policies
  • Driving performance and process improvement initiatives
  • Assisting in the implementation and monitoring of Australia Post’s Diversity and OH&S Policies and Procedures
  • Coaching and where needed assist with conducting performance conversations
  • Using the My Safety App to enter any incidents and assisting with other data entry and scheduling

To be successful you will need
  • A full or probationary QLD car drivers licence (motorcycle in addition would be useful however not mandatory) 
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring co-workers
  • Strong customer service focus involving direct contact with customers
  • You're resilient and able to adapt to high volume and pressure
  • You're flexible with working additional hours if required
  • Good interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, and the ability to exercise sound judgement
  • Decent computer skills with Microsoft Office and experience with SAP is beneficial
  • You have a great memory, excellent attention to detail and can lift up to 16kgs of Mail and Parcels regularly.  
  • You'll need to meet our safe working small vehicle load limit of weighing under 120kgs fully-clothed

How we’ll deliver for you 
  • Base annual salary is $70,703 plus additional 15% shift penalties paid on top of base, 12% superannuation, 4% pay increase Sept 2026

Training and Support

At Australia Post, our training and induction programs offer support to ensure we set you up for success. You will attend an induction in your first week with our Learning and Development Team followed by a site-specific induction at your respective facility and additional online learning modules. As a new employee, you will receive one-on-one coaching, followed by regular check-ins with your Manager and Trainer to track progress, provide feedback, and discuss any support needed. We assess development at the end of each month during your probationary period, with adjustments or additional training as required. The program includes site-specific inductions and hands-on training, building employees up to full delivery capacity within six weeks. Our approach is flexible, ensuring long-term success and continuous growth,
