What you’ll deliver with us 

As our Senior Cloud Oracle Database Engineer, you’ll design, deliver and run critical database services across Australia Post’s enterprise environment, ensuring performance, stability, and cost efficiency across both on-prem and cloud platforms. Reporting to the Manager - Database & Windows Services, you’ll work closely with infrastructure, cloud, and application teams to optimise database performance and support both BAU operations and key infrastructure projects.

You’ll also 

• Manage and optimise Oracle (including Exadata) and PostgreSQL environments, focusing on performance tuning, troubleshooting, and reliability.
• Support database lifecycle activities including upgrades, patching, migrations, and asset lifecycle management.
• Contribute to major infrastructure projects, including platform refreshes and transitions to new environments.
• Work closely with stakeholders across the business to resolve issues, improve performance, and ensure services meet business demand

About you  

You’re a hands-on, technically strong database engineer who thrives in complex enterprise environments. You take ownership, are curious by nature, and enjoy solving problems while building strong relationships with stakeholders. You’re comfortable working across BAU and project delivery, and bring a proactive approach to improving systems and services. 

You’ll also need 

• Strong experience in Oracle database administration (including performance tuning, patching, and troubleshooting), with exposure to PostgreSQL and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Experience working in large, complex enterprise environments, managing integrated applications and infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of incident, change, and service management, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
