Description & Requirements

Help us deliver a better tomorrow

Australia Post is delivering for all Australians. From the vehicles that we drive, to the small businesses that make our communities thrive. We’re delivering for the environment, for our communities, for our customers and for our people. We’re moving forward and we want you to come along for the ride.

About the opportunity

Join Australia Post’s Health, Safety & Wellbeing team in a dynamic, purpose-led role supporting our Customer Success function. As a Senior Safety Specialist, you’ll be embedded with teams working in elevated-risk environments, driving transformational change across how we approach safety and wellbeing. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside passionate leaders and deliver innovative, data-driven initiatives that are helping our frontline workforce thrive like never before.

What you’ll deliver with us

Reporting into the Health, Safety & Wellbeing function and working closely with the Customer Success leadership team, you’ll deliver strategic safety and wellbeing solutions that align with operational needs. You’ll be responsible for developing and embedding programs, coaching leaders, and championing a culture where safety is everyone’s responsibility. Success in this role means stronger leadership capability, improved psychological and physical safety outcomes, and greater alignment with Australia Post’s enterprise-wide vision for wellbeing.

You’ll also

  • Design and deliver targeted safety initiatives informed by robust data analysis and operational insight
  • Provide expert advice to leaders, coaching them to adopt and champion safe behaviours
  • Lead key working groups, including the Mental Health & Wellbeing Working Group and WHS forums
  • Monitor and report on safety performance, incident trends, and program effectiveness
  • Partner with Enterprise Safety & Wellbeing and external providers to ensure policies are business-ready and impactful

About you

You're a proactive and trusted safety leader who thrives in complex environments. You bring a strategic mindset, strong communication skills and the ability to build genuine relationships across all levels of the organisation. With a passion for empowering others, you're confident coaching leaders and influencing cultural change that puts safety and wellbeing at the heart of how work gets done.

You’ll also need

  • Extensive experience in a senior safety role within a large, multi-site organisation
  • Strong knowledge of safety legislation and its practical application in high-risk industries, ideally transport or logistics
  • Demonstrated success designing and implementing safety improvement strategies and behavioural change initiatives
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive alignment across diverse teams and locations
  • Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health & Safety (OHS), with a business qualification viewed favourably

How we’ll deliver for you

  • Join one of the most culturally and linguistically diverse workforces in Australia, where we’re all ages, genders and come from all walks of life.
  • We deliver on our values of Trust, Inclusivity, Empowerment and Safety every day. They’re the TIES that bind our team together.
  • Immerse yourself in the AP Way – where every single team member partakes in a learning module to help understand the vital role we play in delivering on our strategy and purpose.
