About the job 

As our Senior Retail Customer Service Officer, you’ll play an important part in helping Australians service their own businesses, keeping millions of people connected and building community resilience. Every year around one million customers walk into one of Australia Post’s 4,400 Post Offices. It’s our retail teams who make sure that every experience they have is a great one. And while they do, they’re supported by a welcoming team, take part in ongoing training, and are guided on career development opportunities.   

 The purpose of the position is to professionally assist in the management of operations in our postal outlet to achieve objectives, grow profitability, increase productivity and team engagement, whilst providing consistently high standards of customer service. 

 You’ll be

  • Building rewarding relationships with customers by understanding their needs.   
  • Assisting with administrative duties such as stocktaking and record maintenance.  
  • Have the ability to develop the skills and expertise of team members having worked in a customer-facing role which required effective and efficient resolution of customer complaints. 
  • Assisting with managing back office processes, such as; stock inventory functions, conducting outlet balancing and audit functions. 
  • The successful applicant will be nurtured with ongoing training and development in order to be set up for success.

 

About you

  • You’re a friendly, enthusiastic and reliable personality who has experience in supervising in a fast faced retail, banking or similar role
  • You’re ready to put the customer at the centre of everything you do to help make a difference in the community.
  • You are a flexible team player and are willing to work across all locations as required, including Winnellie, Palmerston, Casuarina, and the Darwin GPO.

 

You’ll also need to have experience in, or be able to learn how to

  • Accurately handle and process high‑value transactions (including cash, cheques, credit cards and EFTPOS).
  • Conduct and process a range of identity services transactions, such as Australian Passport Interviews.
  • Promote our products and services through value adding conversations, merchandising and other promotional activities.
  • Perform tasks that involve lifting items up to 16kg and standing for extended periods
  • Hold a full and current driver’s licence

  • This role is eligible for numerous allowances, including District Allowance (from $3,160 pa), Air Con subsidy, additional paid leave and Fare assistance
  • The salary commences at $73,560
