Description & Requirements

Help us deliver like never before

We’re hiring a Senior Platform Engineer – GCP to help shape and advance Australia Post’s cloud platform engineering capability. In this role, you’ll apply software engineering best practice to design, build, and implement secure, scalable GCP platform solutions, taking endorsed architecture patterns and turning them into high‑quality, production‑ready cloud services. You’ll provide technical leadership across design, coding, and configuration, acting as a trusted GCP subject matter expert for engineers across the organisation.

You’ll also drive technical discussions, set direction on GCP platform best practice, and guide teams to uplift engineering maturity while supporting business outcomes. A key part of your role will be leading the remediation of vulnerabilities and platform security issues, ensuring our GCP environments remain resilient and compliant, and partnering with other teams to strengthen overall cloud capability.

If you're a seasoned GCP specialist who thrives on solving complex platform challenges, lifting engineering standards, and guiding others in best‑practice cloud delivery, we'd love to hear from you!

What you’ll deliver with us

  • Working at a senior level across the Engineering team, collaborating with architects, engineers, and customer experience experts

  • Thought leadership and in depth experience implementing best practice automation on cloud, and DevOps engineering techniques, to design and implement secure, simple, and impactful solutions

  • Software Engineering designer and implementer where you champion innovative coding solutions and take the teams around you on the journey of software development

  • Expert in Cloud Platforms technologies, primarily GCP

About You
You’re an experienced GCP Cloud Platform engineer with experience designing, building, and supporting secure, scalable cloud solutions. You bring strong knowledge of GCP services, cloud infrastructure, security, compliance, and DevOps practices, particularly CI/CD and self‑service automation using GitLab. Skilled in multiple programming languages (with Golang and Python preferred), you’re also proficient in OPA, YAML, JSON, Terraform, and CloudFormation. You excel at stakeholder engagement, communication, and influencing outcomes across complex environments, with GCP certifications (and other cloud certs) strengthening your profile. With strong problem‑solving skills, the ability to resolve complex technical issues, and a readiness to participate in a 24×7 support roster, you’re a trusted subject matter expert who builds strong relationships and delivers high‑quality platform engineering outcomes
