Help us deliver a better tomorrow
Australia Post is delivering for all Australians. From the vehicles that we drive, to the small businesses that make our communities thrive. We’re delivering for the environment, for our communities, for our customers and for our people. We’re moving forward and we want you to come along for the ride.
About the Opportunity
At Australia Post, we’re transforming how we deliver for the nation.
As our Senior Manager, Network Modelling & Optimisation, you’ll lead the development of data-driven, cost-effective, and scalable logistics network solutions that will shape our operations for the next decade.
This is a rare opportunity to build a new strategic modelling capability from the ground up—partnering with senior leaders, guiding a high-performing team, and influencing decisions that impact every corner of our national network.
What You’ll deliver with us
- Strategic Network Design: Develop and lead a structured, top-down methodology to evaluate and optimise future-state network scenarios.
- Advanced Modelling: Use sophisticated linear and heuristic-based tools to model over 500 logistics sites, incorporating volume flows, site capacity, and cost-to-serve metrics.
- Scenario Testing: Conduct rigorous sensitivity and financial analysis to validate network options and support capital planning and business case development.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Property, Finance, Operations, and Data teams to ensure models are executable, data-rich, and aligned with strategic goals.
- Platform Leadership: Guide the selection and implementation of modelling and simulation platforms, ensuring robust data integration and scalability.
About You
You’re a strategic thinker with deep expertise in network modelling and optimisation, ideally with an advanced degree in Data Science, Mathematics, or Logistics. You combine technical excellence with commercial acumen and thrive in complex, dynamic environments.
You bring:
- Proven experience in logistics network design and optimisation, ideally in postal, parcel, or supply chain environments.
- Advanced modelling skills, with experience using linear/heuristic tools and working with incomplete or approximate data.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to guide technical teams and communicate complex models simply.
- Expertise in financial modelling and scenario testing, including cost-benefit analysis and sensitivity testing.
- A mindset that embraces iteration—refining models and solutions as data and insights evolve.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration skills.
