Description & Requirements

Help us deliver like never before

We’re looking for a Senior MLOPS Engineer to join our diverse, talented and innovative digital technology team who together are helping our customers and communities build a better future. Together, we design, build and maintain products, services and experiences that Australian's love and trust, while delivering a sustainable future for Australia Post, and you could be part of that.

We're empowered to deliver for our teams and to delight our customers. We provide an inclusive and supportive environment that nurtures talented people, trusts our teams to deliver their best, and leverages modern work practices and technologies. It's an unexpectedly dynamic and collaborative culture that feels more like a start-up than a 213-year old icon.

What you’ll deliver with us
The Senior MLOps Engineer designs, builds and operates the systems and workflows required to deliver advanced analytics, AI and ML solutions reliably in production. Working closely with data science teams, the role focuses on turning models into secure, scalable and maintainable services by applying strong software engineering, cloud engineering and MLOps practices. The MLOPS Engineer supporting experimentation envs, pilots and proof-of-concepts, while setting a clear pathway to productionisation based on agreed product grading.

The role partners with data scientists, AI engineers, data engineers, platform/Cloud teams, and product and business stakeholders to deliver outcomes using ML and advanced analytics. It contributes across the full ML lifecycle—data preparation, training and evaluation, packaging and deployment, integration with upstream/downstream systems, and ongoing monitoring—implementing best-practice MLOps (e.g., automated CI/CD, reproducible environments, model and data versioning, and controlled releases). By standardising production MLOps practices, improving deployment frequency and reliability, and reducing operational risk, this role helps scale the organisation’s AI capability. Through continuous improvement of tooling, platforms and run processes, the Senior MLOps Engineer enables faster time-to-value while maintaining high standards for performance, resilience and maintainability.

You’ll also

  • Deploy and operate solutions that leverage ML/AI technologies to deliver business value through improved decision making, process simplification and optimisation, automation, and revenue generation.
  • Ensure that ML/AI solutions are reliable. This involves rigorous testing, validation, and continuous monitoring to ensure models perform well under various conditions and do not produce erroneous results.
  • Contribute to the efficient and sustainable use of Cloud resources and technologies ensuring the development and delivery of high-quality, reliable, efficient and optimised solutions, considering the full lifecycle impact and cost of the technology.Successfully maintain ML/AI assets and business solutions operating on Cloud and our AI/MLOps platform, ensuring model and solution efficacy and availability for the enterprise
  • Deploy production-grade ML systems, design robust pipelines, enforce testing and quality gates, implement observability (metrics, logging, alerting).
  • Manage model risk (drift, bias and performance degradation), and ensure solutions meet security, governance and operational requirements within standard operating procedures.
  • Deploy production-grade ML/AI solutions ensuring compliance with the Enterprise Data and AI reference architecture and according to the Enterprise Data Governance standards and Responsible AI standards.

About you
We are seeking someone who has experience working in a complex organisation and is interested in AI and Machine learning initiatives. This is an operational role where you’ll be monitoring, re-training and automating models. So, if you are passionate about automating models, reviewing model changes overtime and can re-train and republish those models then this is a fantastic opportunity for you! Practical experience with ML Ops governance standards for sustainable and scalable ML maintenance is useful as well.

You’ll also need

  • Proven experience developing productionised, scaled, maintained and monitored AI/ML solutions and models, leveraging MLOps.
  • Experience with cloud development, CICD/IaC, terraforms and understanding of AI/ML lifecycle.
  • Skilled in coding (Python preferred), or other object-oriented language as well as code versioning, collaboration, testing, reliability, and accessibility, technologies and standards.
  • Skilled in data preprocessing, feature selection, statistical data analytics, SQL (BigQuery), scripting and ETL approaches.
  • Familiarity with data and machine learning orchestration and workflow pipeline engineering, development and deployment technologies.
  • Ability to use Google Cloud Platform (preferred), AWS or Azure or other equivalent cloud developer services
  • Experience using enterprise-grade ML/AI platforms such as VertexAI or similar for production-grade Machine Learning and Data Science.
