About the opportunity
Reporting to the Group Financial Reporting Manager, you will play a key role in delivering a range of financial reporting activities that are critical to meeting the needs of senior internal and external stakeholders. This includes month-end processes, the preparation of half-year and annual financial statements, as well as Board and Audit Committee papers and reporting to the Minister.
You’ll also
- Perform month-end accounting activities, including journal uploads and the preparation of key financial statements such as consolidated profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow
- Provide technical financial accounting advice to business and finance stakeholders, particularly across capitalisation, investment activities, and the review of written agreements
- Develop and maintain accounting policies in line with Australian Accounting Standards Board (AASBs) requirements and best practice governance, ensuring consistency across the Group
- Contribute to consolidated Group results, including reporting to internal and external stakeholders
- Provide guidance to subsidiaries on financial accounting requirements, month-end processes, and governance matters
- Support the preparation of reporting to the Department of Finance
- Prepare clear, high-quality communications for the Board, Risk and other Committees on financial results
- Identify and drive process improvements across the financial reporting framework
- Monitor and manage the internal control framework for financial reporting
- Support the adoption of new accounting and sustainability reporting standards, including Commonwealth Climate Disclosures and Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards
About you
- 4-6 years’ experience in applicable business/functional domain related to finance
- Membership with a recognised accounting body (CA/CPA)
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and simply
- Solid technical knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and the Corporations Act
- Sound understanding of business and financial risk, including sustainability reporting requirements
- Experience preparing large, complex financial statements at both Group and subsidiary level
- Experience working with financial systems in a large organisation, with advanced Excel skills and the ability to extract and analyse data from systems such as TM1, SAP or other data analysis software or systems
- Proficiency in using Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools
