About the opportunity
As a Senior Communications Manager with people leadership responsibility, you will play a critical role in enabling Australia Post’s enterprise strategy, transformation agenda and social licence. You will do this through strong editorial leadership that supports and enhances Australia Post’s reputation, social licence and public standing.
This role ensures content is credible, accurate and audience-focused, while reflecting the realities of operating in a regulated and politically sensitive environment. Drawing on newsroom-honed judgement, you will also help shape how Australia Post’s actions, decisions and priorities are understood by employees, customers, communities and external stakeholders.
Working closely with the Head of Enterprise Communications, you will contribute to shaping the strategic communications agenda across Australia Post.
You’ll also
- Help set and uphold Australia Post’s editorial vision, standards and tone of voice across owned channels, with a clear focus on reputation, trust and credibility
- Apply strong editorial judgement to ensure content reflects community expectations of a Government Business Enterprise (GBE) and supports Australia Post’s reputation
- Act as the editorial authority on high-impact or sensitive content, balancing transparency, accuracy and reputational considerations
- Help lead the development and execution of an enterprise content strategy aligned to Australia Post’s strategic objectives and long-term reputation
- Shape stories that explain complex issues clearly and credibly, with an awareness of how narratives influence public and media perception
- Ensure content reinforces Australia Post’s purpose, values, and commitment to customers and communities
- Provide editorial leadership across owned channels, including web, internal platforms, newsletters and digital publications, ensuring consistency of narrative and tone
- Partner with digital, brand and corporate communications teams to deliver content that strengthens reputation across channels
- Influence executive and organisational use of LinkedIn and other editorial-led digital channels, ensuring content is credible, authentic and aligned to reputation
About you
You are an experienced communications leader with a strong editorial background, ideally shaped in a newsroom or large, complex organisation. You bring sound judgement, a clear understanding of reputational risk, and the ability to operate confidently in a regulated and politically sensitive environment.
What are we looking for?
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in communications or a related discipline in a large and complex organisation
- Extensive experience in corporate or enterprise communications within large, complex organisations, ideally with a strong newsroom background
- Proven ability to lead through others, set direction and influence senior leaders and executives
- Strong editorial judgement, with a clear understanding of reputational risk and stakeholder expectations in a regulated environment
- Demonstrated experience delivering engaging, high-quality content across multiple channels and audiences
- Ability to translate complex issues into clear, credible and compelling narratives
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across diverse and competing priorities
- Deep understanding of digital, media and communications trends impacting large organisations
- A collaborative leadership style, with a focus on building capability and high-performing teams
