About the opportunity
Reporting to the Head of Communications, the Senior Communications Manager will have responsibility for creating one true voice throughout internal communications and flow through some external. Working with senior stakeholders, you will develop and implement communications that directly support Australia Post’s commercial and strategic objectives.
Critical to this role will be working collaboratively across the enterprise and business teams. You will build effective relationships at all levels of the business and develop a deep understanding of business needs and stakeholder audiences.
What you’ll deliver with us
- Develop and implement communications strategies that support enterprise and business unit objectives
- Help improve communication and engagement for our team members
- Build trusted relationships with Executive level leaders across the entire business
- Working with Executives, you will provide strategic counsel, prepare communications strategies and materials, including briefs, messages and presentations
- Work with Business Unit teams to develop a deep understanding of their business objectives, issues and opportunities
- Support key enterprise projects and initiatives by developing and advising on communications approaches to enhance team member and stakeholder engagement
- Work with Executive Managers and Executive Assistants to deliver key events (e.g. Town Halls)
- Identify external opportunities for the Executive Thought Leadership program and work with the Media Relations team
- Identify and amplify good news stories, showing strategic progress and examples of how we’re delivering for our customers and communities
- Collaborate with the wider Communications team to ensure consistency of business messages and alignment with enterprise-wide programs
- Support the Enterprise Communications team when needed
- Work with the Head of Team and Senior Communications Managers to identify opportunities for innovation for the Team and manage innovation projects
About you
You are a communications specialist, action-oriented, positive, good at writing in short and snappy ways, and enjoy campaign style communication. You are organised, efficient, adaptable and have a solution-focused attitude. You’re inquisitive, proactive, eager to get stuff done, and enjoy building strong relationships with team members and stakeholders across the business.
What are we looking for?
- 10+ years' experience as a communications professional in a large, complex, and highly regulated organisation
- Experience in developing, executing, and evaluating communication plans
- Excellent understanding of a wide variety of communication channels and techniques, including digital Communications
- Experience in working for organisations in the retail or logistics industry that have a geographically spread workforce is preferred but not essential
- Natural curiosity about issues and developments about current news issues, and in the broader community socio-political environment
- Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, change communication and project management skills
- Understanding of issues and reputational impact
- Highly organised and efficient
