Business analysis enables an enterprise to articulate needs and the rationale for change, and to design and describe solutions that can deliver value.

Business analysis is performed on a variety of initiatives within an enterprise. Business analysis may be performed within the boundaries of a project or throughout enterprise evolution and continuous improvement.

Experience

• 2-4 years as a Senior Business Analyst.
• Supervision of 1-2 other business analysts.
• Analysis of changes of medium scale and complexity.
• Acting independently on initiatives of medium scale or complexity.
• Use of modelling and analysis tools.
• Transport and logistics.
• Introducing change into large and complex enterprises.
• Working with transformation projects and teams.

Accountabilities

Business Analysis includes accountability for a range of activity.

• Plan business analysis
  1. Plan the business analysis approach.
  2. Estimate business analysis effort.
  3. Communicate plans to stakeholders.
  4. Monitor progress.
  5. Adapt plans in response to new information.

• Elicit and communicate
  1. Investigate the business to understand its environment, functions, and needs.
  2. Build a shared understanding of business needs and potential solutions.
  3. Facilitate collaboration and negotiation between stakeholders.

• Manage requirements lifecycle

1. Structure and manage requirements repositories.
2. Trace requirement relationships.
3. Manage requirement prioritisation.
4. Manage requirement change and acceptance.

• Analyse business context
  1. Identify relevant business context including capability, process, data and rules.
  2. Examine the consequences of possible business changes.
  3. Assess business risks.

• Develop requirements
  1. Specify and model the goals of the business and the needs of stakeholders.
  2. Design and describe changes that deliver business value.
  3. Verify and validate requirements.

• Evaluate solutions
  1. Assess the performance of a solution to determine its value.
  2. Identify solution limitations.
  3. Recommend solution improvements.
