About the opportunity  

Reporting to the ‘General Manager, Shareholder Liaison’, the ‘Senior Advisor, Shareholder Department Liaison’ is accountable for maintaining strategic, trusted, relationships with Shareholder and Government Departments. Effective management of these relationships will ensure transparent, timely, and coordinated communication between Australia Post and Shareholder and Government Department stakeholders. 

 

The role leads liaison between Shareholder Department stakeholders and Australia Post for key projects including Modernisation and government programs, as well as the co-ordination and preparation of information to support parliamentary services. Responsibilities include representing Australia Post in various Shareholder Department engagements and preparing complex briefs and other materials for Shareholder Departments where required.


What you’ll deliver with us 

  • Coordinate the business’s engagement with Shareholder Department stakeholders, both reactively on Modernisation matters as raised, and proactively in support of Australia Post’s Reform objectives
  • Proactively lead the development of complex, coherent, and persuasive submissions and advice to various government departments to help influence government (at all levels)
  • Provide high level internal policy advice to support all areas of the business, and proactively identify opportunities across the government for Australia Post

 

About you

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in political science, public policy, economics, or a related field
  • 5+ years’ experience, including extensive experience in Shareholder office and/or Government department roles, ideally with exposure in a relevant policy field
  • Strong commercial acumen and proven ability to work in complex team environments and organisations
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Federal Departmental and Government decision-making cycles and processes, as well as a great understanding of government policy development processes
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare complex briefing and policy material with a sound understanding of unique regulatory operating environment faced by GBEs
