This is a 2-year Fixed-Term Contract with an opportunity to extend beyond that.
What you’ll deliver with us
This role serves as the Program Architect for Chief Technology & AI Officer organisation in Enterprise Services at Australia Post focused on Transport Management System Program. Primary stakeholders for the role, Head of Application and Business Architecture, with whom the day-to-day reporting structure sits, the Head of Technology – First & Last Mile, with whom a dotted reporting line exists, and the Transport Management System – Program Manager, with whom day to day program architecture and planning deliverables are managed.
You will be responsible for representing Enterprise Services needs into all Transport Management architecture functions, meetings and governance, and for providing program level guidance and governance back to the line of business function. Additionally, you will be the key stakeholder for ongoing program architecture work and will be responsible for socialisation and communication of the architecture within the program, Enterprise Services and for providing business context, guidance and advice of business needs and priorities back into the enterprise-wide architecture. We are not looking for a pure delivery person we need someone who can establish principals of how we get to our target state and how we align with the broader technology function.
You’ll also
• Create accurate and relevant program architecture(s) for the program. These will describe the future state architecture for the business and the transitional states on how to achieve that future state.
• Lead and manage all architecture activity and deliverables to meet the demands and expectations of the program.
• Provide technical advice to allow assessment of viability and cost of potential solutions
• Ensures that the program is aligned with broader enterprise-wide strategy and architecture to ensure high levels of cohesion, consistency and reuse across the enterprise.
• Participates as a member of the architecture leadership team in architecture process, working groups, council and governance meetings, as well as all enterprise-wide technology strategy activities as needed from time to time.
• Provides first point of technical escalation to the program for architecture related activities.
• Provides commercial leadership, counsel and direction to solution architects and program stakeholders in relation to technology.
About you
We are seeking a strong leader who can communicate with both external (e.g. solution vendors, customers) and internal (e.g. business GMs and Heads of) parties to create architecture solutions that are aligned with our transformation intent. Internally you’ll work closely with our GM of Network Development & Support Services, the Network Program Manager, the Chief Architect and Solution/Principal architects as well. These good communications skills will come in handy when presenting in front of executive audiences, preparing and presenting technical subject matter. Being able to articulate a thorough understanding of any risks and trade-offs to senior stakeholders to gain support is a key skill for this role
You’ll also need
• Proven experience as lead / program architect, solutions architect or enterprise architect of a large Transport Management System transformation program in a complex technology landscape
• Previous Transport Management Solution/System (TMS) experience ideally with Blue Yonder
• Developing and maintaining architecture roadmaps that are relevant, resonate with stakeholders, and enable decisions to be made to support our businesses
• Experience in defining business capabilities, requirements assessment, conceptual architecture, architecture planning/road mapping
• Ability to lead medium sized team of architects and coordinate solution architecture efforts based on requirements
• Comfortable participating in (and lead where appropriate) assessments for RPIs, RFPs and Proof of concepts
This is a hybrid work environment with 3-days in the office and 2-days at home. Our head office is in Burnley and will require you to meet the vendor & SI in our Sunshine location weekly.
