We are investing heavily into our technology team and are excited to embark on a search for a Principal Architect to join our team.

What you'll deliver with us

The Principal Architect - Network Operations, is a senior leadership role responsible for leading architecture initiatives and teams focused on the technology supporting logistics operations. This role ensures that our architecture supporting the full breadth of our Network is robust, scalable, efficient, secure, data-driven and AI-ready.

In this exciting role, you will be responsible for representing the business portfolio needs into all group architecture functions, meetings and governance, and for providing enterprise level guidance and governance back to the business portfolio function. Additionally, you will be the key stakeholder for ongoing technology strategy work, and will be responsible for socialisation and communication of the strategy within your business portfolio, and for providing business context, guidance and advice of business needs and priorities back into the enterprise-wide technology strategy.

You will also be responsible for leading the implementation of the Australia Post Group technology strategy within your portfolio, and development of target states and roadmaps aligned to strategic goals and objectives. This includes input into strategies, principles, governance, and other enterprise architecture activity.

You will also

  • Create accurate and relevant roadmaps for the portfolio. These roadmaps will describe the future state architecture for the portfolio and the transitional states on how to achieve that future state.
  • Lead and manage all IT strategy and architecture activity and deliverables to meet the demands and expectations of the portfolio.
  • Ensure that portfolio projects are aligned with broader enterprise wide strategy and architecture to ensure high levels of cohesion, consistency and reuse across the enterprise.
  • Participates as a member of the architecture leadership team in architecture process, working groups, council and governance meetings, as well as all enterprise-wide technology strategy activities as needed from time to time.
  • Advocates and drives a focus on customer needs and improving the customer experience.
  • Applies a commercial focus on all work to ensure that the desired business outcomes are met; this will often require the individual to work with commercially sensitive information and data.
  • Communicates with both external (e.g. solution vendors, customers) and internal (e.g. business GMs) parties to create architecture solutions that are aligned with our strategic intent.
  • Builds strong, trusted relationships with business and IT stakeholders. This includes providing thought leadership to our businesses to help shape and influence their strategies.
  • Partner closely with executive leadership within your nominated business unit.

About you

  • Essential experience as an enterprise architect within a large scale complex organisation undergoing large transformation
  • Confident to lead work within a technology strategy definition programme, understanding and balancing business and technology requirements.
  • Background in transport and logistics, large field workforces, complex services and products environments would be beneficial.
  • Natural curiosity demonstrated by knowledge of technology trends and a desire to maintain currency of knowledge.
  • Desire to continually learn, particularly out-of-the-box thinking and creative and intelligent solution finding.
  • Exceptional collaboration skills, ability to both work as part of a team and lead a team in different environments.
