Description & Requirements

Help us deliver a better tomorrow
Australia Post is delivering for all Australians. From the vehicles that we drive, to the small businesses that make our communities thrive. We’re delivering for the environment, for our communities, for our customers and for our people. We’re moving forward and we want you to come along for the ride.

About the opportunity

If you’re excited by leading large, complex logistics operations and making tangible change, this Regional Manager role in StarTrack Road Express (Northern NSW) is your next step. You’ll guide a high‑performing network from Sydney up to Coffs Harbour—anchored around Newcastle/Tuggerah—where the team is delivering like never before and gearing up for a 15‑year facilities plan and exciting new projects. You’ll have real autonomy, the backing of Australia Post, and a leader who empowers experts to do their best work!

What you’ll deliver with us

You’ll own performance outcomes across safety, service, cost and people for a region that includes five StarTrack facilities plus multiple agents. Success looks like a safer, more engaged team; improved DIFOT; disciplined cost control with clear P&L ownership; and stronger customer relationships and partnership. You’ll report to the State Operations Manager and work closely with peers across the AP network, facility leaders and agent partners to embed consistent, effective transport operations and compliance.

You’ll also

  • Lead a geographically dispersed team across Coffs Harbour, Newcastle, Tuggerah, Tamworth and Port Macquarie with clear operating rhythms and measurable outcomes.
  • Champion safety and Chain of Responsibility (CoR), lifting standards via site safety plans and strategies.
  • Manage the regional budget, own the P&L, initiate cost savings and present financial performance succinctly.
  • Identify service improvements and growth opportunities; influence agent delivery partners to meet StarTrack standards.
  • Lead change programs and engage constructively with unions

About you

You’re a structured, people‑centred operator who engages at every level—from boardroom to the facility floor. You bring end‑to‑end logistics know‑how (from customer through the network to delivery), a methodical approach, and the ability to turn plans into outcomes. You model our TIES values—Trust, Inclusivity, Empowerment and Safety—and foster a “One Team” mindset that puts the customer and the enterprise first.

You’ll also need

  • Deep knowledge of transport operations, CoR and safety leadership in an SLA‑driven environment; experience interpreting and acting on complex operational data.
  • Proven P&L accountability, negotiation skills and union engagement experience across a large catchment.
  • Strong stakeholder skills and change leadership—able to influence, standardise and embed national transport strategies.
  • Ideally, exposure to LEAN / Six Sigma and continuous improvement within logistics networks.

How we’ll deliver for you

  • A supportive, safety‑first culture where One Team collaboration is real, and your leadership has impact.
  • Opportunities to grow your career across one of Australia’s largest and most trusted logistics networks.
  • Be part of a team where your leadership and commitment are valued, working on-site alongside colleagues to deliver outstanding results.
