Help us deliver a better tomorrow

Australia Post is delivering for all Australians. From the vehicles that we drive, to the small businesses that make our communities thrive. We’re delivering for the environment, for our communities, for our customers and for our people. We’re moving forward and we want you to come along for the ride.

About the opportunity

Join a team that’s shaping the way Australia Post supports mental health and safety across its enterprise. As a Senior Mental Health and Safety Specialist, you’ll work within the Mental Health and Support Functions Safety team, championing the implementation of best-practice psychosocial risk strategies. This is a unique opportunity to influence cultural change, shape enterprise-wide safety strategies, and embed wellbeing into the everyday experience of work.

What you’ll deliver with us

Reporting to the Head of Mental Health and Support Functions Safety, you’ll take the lead in identifying, designing, and implementing initiatives that reduce psychosocial risk and improve mental health outcomes. You’ll collaborate with senior leaders across Finance, People & Culture, Communications, Legal and Strategy, delivering measurable improvements in wellbeing and shaping Australia Post’s Mental Health Strategy. Success in this role means influencing enterprise-wide change, embedding fit-for-purpose safety interventions, and delivering lasting cultural and operational uplift in psychological safety.

You’ll also

  • Use data and insights to identify psychosocial risks and shape tailored interventions across diverse business units and career stages.
  • Partner with senior leaders to co-design and embed proactive, evidence-based mental health and safety controls.
  • Influence, coach and empower leaders to champion wellbeing and psychosocial risk management at all levels of the organisation.
  • Drive the delivery and governance of the Mental Health & Wellbeing Working Groups and support consistent execution of strategic initiatives.
  • Lead continuous improvement by monitoring outcomes, sharing learnings, and fostering a connected, values-driven Safety & Wellbeing community.

About you

You’re a trusted advisor and confident communicator who brings empathy, strategic thinking, and resilience to everything you do. You thrive in complex environments and are passionate about creating psychologically safe workplaces. With a people-first mindset and a collaborative approach, you’re comfortable working autonomously and influencing across all levels of the business.

You’ll also need

  • Extensive experience identifying and mitigating psychosocial risks, including coaching and partnering with leaders to deliver mental health and wellbeing strategies.
  • A strong understanding of relevant safety and industrial relations legislation, with proven ability to interpret and apply it in practical workplace contexts.
  • The capability to clearly communicate complex psychosocial safety concepts and data insights in a relatable way for diverse audiences.
  • A track record of influencing senior stakeholders to embed behavioural change and drive consistency across varied teams and locations.
  • Tertiary qualifications in psychology, behavioural science, allied health or health and safety, supported by excellent project management and change implementation skills.

How we’ll deliver for you

  • Be part of a culture where everybody feels they belong, are valued, and can bring their authentic self to work every day.
  • We deliver on our values of Trust, Inclusivity, Empowerment and Safety every day. They’re the TIES that bind our team together.
  • Flexible working, across support office and operational facilities across the network.
