About the opportunity
Join our Network Operations team as the Manager, Network Design & Planning and help shape the future of Australia Post’s national network. You’ll lead a team of logistics experts, driving the strategic design and planning of new sites and future catchments. What you’ll deliver with us
You’ll be responsible for the top-level planning and concept design of new network sites, ensuring our network is future-ready and fit for purpose. Reporting to the Head of Network Strategy & Planning, you’ll collaborate with Property, Finance, and operational teams to deliver robust, practical solutions that underpin our long-term success and inform capital planning and deliver robust, actionable solutions.
You’ll also
- Lead scenario planning and concept design, build and maintain roadmap for existing facilities, new sites and catchments, including detailed catchment and site location plans, challenging constraints and ensuring practical implementation.
- Articulate high level requirements including forecast transport flows, capacity, processing power, workforce needs, and infrastructure requirements for the next 5–10 years.
- Work with Property and Infrastructure teams to define site specifications, capital requirements, and cost/benefit analyses for new builds, upgrades, consolidations, and closures.
- Model multiple scenarios and solutions for sites coming up for renewal, balancing cost, productivity, and operational needs.
- Translate strategic intent into clear, actionable plans—identifying what needs to change in 3, 5, and 10 years, and communicating these to key stakeholders.
- Prepare and present compelling business cases and recommendations to influence decision-makers across Property, Finance, and Technical Infrastructure.
About you
You’re a strategic planner with a passion for logistics and physical network design. You thrive in ambiguity, using your analytical skills and foresight to map out multiple options and guide teams through complex decisions. You’re a natural problem-solver, able to translate high-level strategy into detailed, actionable plans. Your communication and presentation skills enable you to influence and align diverse stakeholders, even when priorities shift or information is incomplete. You thrive in a collaborative environment, bringing strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills. You’re committed to delivering results and supporting your team’s growth and wellbeing.
You’ll also need
- A strong understanding of supply chain design principles. Knowledge of best practice in postal, letters, or parcel distribution is an advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to develop detailed business cases for supply chain network transformation.
- Experience in long-term planning involving real estate, ideally within logistics.
- Strong project management and planning skills—able to take projects from current state to future state, mapping out the right infrastructure and resources.
- Advanced problem-solving skills, with experience developing multiple solutions for complex, multi-site scenarios. Proven ability to model and plan for network redesign, translating strategy into practical, real-world outcomes.
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex projects from inception to completion.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Tertiary qualifications in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Property Portfolio Management, (or equivalent experience).
