About the opportunity
Reporting to the General Manager Group Security, you will be responsible for shaping the future-state service delivery, embedding risk-based frameworks, and transitioning key functions to align with strategic security goals. Through strong commercial acumen, technical expertise, and stakeholder engagement, the Head of Security Operations drives innovation, governance, influences enterprise-wide outcomes, and enhances the effectiveness of Australia Post’s security posture.
What you’ll deliver with us
You will provide strategic direction and operational leadership across Australia Post’s security services, including guarding, alarm monitoring, maintenance, repairs, and the National Security Control Centre (NSCC). You will also oversee the Security Risk & Programs portfolio, including liaison with law enforcement and government agencies, drive continuous improvement in the programs of work which reduce security operating risk, increase awareness, ensure robust governance and reduce or contain costs.
You’ll also
- Lead the strategic design, delivery and transition of security operations services, including guarding, alarm monitoring, and the NSCC
- Provide expert security advice and drive alignment between operational security initiatives and enterprise risk appetite
- Oversee the development and implementation of enterprise-wide security improvement programs and inspection frameworks
- Maintain awareness of emerging security trends and apply best practice methodologies to enhance the organisation’s security maturity
- Build and sustain strong business relationships within industry, Government and across internal business units
- Manage and report on operational budgets across guarding, alarm monitoring, maintenance, and related minor works
- Identify and deliver cost-saving initiatives through process improvement and adoption of security technology
About you
- You’re a calm and strategic leader with a passion for preparedness and resilience. You thrive in high-pressure environments, bring strong stakeholder engagement skills, and are confident representing Australia Post with regulators and government agencies. You’re collaborative, proactive, and committed to delivering outcomes that protect our people and communities.
You’ll also need
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in leading large and complex corporate security operations with relevant industry certifications is highly desirable
- Tertiary qualification in security, risk management or related field
- Strong commercial and technical knowledge across logistics, retail or banking environments
- Experience in managing corporate security services, including strategic design and delivery of operations
- Expertise in managing complex security contracts and multiyear maintenance strategies
- Vast knowledge of regulatory obligations and compliance methodologies relevant to logistics
- Awareness of technology trends and emerging risks in corporate and operational security
