About the opportunity
Our Group Risk team is a second line function, which supports Australia Post Group to find the right balance between realising opportunities and reducing the impact of risks across the business.
Reporting to the ‘Head of Risk Business Partnering’, you will be responsible for proactively partnering with the business, to undertake risk oversight of Group’s strategy, programs, projects and emerging risks while also ensuring you will also assist the Group Risk Team members to oversee the Group’s risk profile.
Your specialist knowledge of risk will support the business to manage risk in accordance with approved policies and framework, to ensure a consistent, organisation-wide approach to managing and monitoring risk. You will positively champion the Group’s framework and risk processes to enable the Group to meet its objectives.
You’ll also
- Maintain a broad understanding of the complex compliance and regulatory environment within which the area operates and apply this understanding to the risk management plans and processes in order to provide timely advice on risks associated with relevant regulatory regimes
- Support the operationalisation and effective application of the Group Risk Management Framework
- Ensure that risk profiles are accurately reported, and risk records are maintained by the area in line with mandated requirements
- Collaboratively identify insightful metrics, with which to monitor the overall levels of risk, to ensure ongoing risk management is aligned to risk appetite
- Hold a shared responsibility to deliver and innovate Group Risk’s strategic objectives that ensures it continues to deliver a systematic and disciplined second line of defence and which improves the effectiveness and efficiency of the risk, control and governance processes
- Support business areas to undertake risk / threat assessments and reviews in line with strategy having regard to risk appetite. Where appropriate, facilitate material risk assessments directly.
- Provide training and coaching to area representatives and risk owners where required
- Motivate and influence stakeholders to continuously improve risk management processes and facilitate area risk and governance forums, including proactive oversight of material action items to assess whether risks have been appropriately mitigated
- Monitor the business compliance with external legislation and internal operating policies and procedures relevant to the position
- Be willing to work across various business units, teams, functions or activities as requested by the Chief Risk Officer or Head of Risk Business Partnering
About you
- Minimum 10 years' experience in a Strategy, Program Risk or Risk function
- Tertiary or post-graduate qualification in a business, management, risk or other relevant discipline
- Experienced in development and management of key risk indicators, especially those relating to strategy, programs and project outcomes and merging risk / horison scanning
- Prior experience within complex changing environments with multiple stakeholders to deliver commercial outcomes
- Strong knowledge of practical implementation of widely used risk management frameworks including those relating to strategy, programs, projects and Horizon Scanning
