About the opportunity  

The Enterprise GIS Unit manages the Geographic Information System (GIS) platform for location analytics and is the source of truth for spatial data within Australia Post. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining corporate spatial data and national datasets while adhering to a high standard of data governance and control practices. This position requires an individual with strong technical skills in GIS software (Safe FME and ESRI ArcGIS) and can work independently. You will report into the Senior Manager in the Enterprise GIS unit.

What you’ll deliver with us  

In this role you will maintain quality procedures for spatial data administration and provide spatial datasets that are fit for use in effective and high-quality GIS services, including analysis, mapping, dashboards and compliance reporting.

 

You’ll also   

• Develop and maintain metadata including documentation of business rules, process documentation and version controls

• Working with the team to assure data quality standards are upheld and data remains consistent, complete, relevant and accurate

• Analyse and troubleshoot spatial data to identify underlying trends or emerging issues

• Develop and maintain spatial data asset register

• Support GIS Controller with data support activities

• Support the processing of GIS work queue (task request, projects and incidents)

• Work closely with team members to embed GIS and location intelligence in the business

 

About you  

The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience in spatial systems and experience in developing and maintaining spatial datasets, including metadata and documentation. You will have strong working knowledge of geo-processing experience in ESRI ArcGIS, Safe FME and relational database skills. Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills are important to have in this role too.

 

You’ll also need   

  • Understanding of data standards and data governance
  • High level computer literacy, problem solving and programming skills
  • High attention to detail in addition to high level analytical and organisational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to co-ordinate tasks, set priorities and work to deadlines
  • Ability to work with others and to communicate effectively
  • Experience in ArcGIS Desktop/Pro, Safe FME and relational databases
  • Tertiary qualification desirable in Spatial/GIS, Land Information, Geography or Environmental
