About the opportunity

The purpose of the role is to provide strategic, commercial and financial insights and advice to the Enterprise Services (Technology) Team. The focus of this role will be to ensure sustainable commercial outcomes for Enterprise Technology costs, and to maintain and enhance the Activity Based Costing (ABC) model for the Enterprise Services Business Unit. This model houses the costs for Australia Posts technology support teams to provide Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for applications, platforms and products. 

 

The role will have primary responsibility for the maintenance and running of the outputs communicated to Australia Post management. The incumbent is expected to have extensive Activity Based Costing (ABC) experience, knowledge of technology businesses management, strong analytical skills, commercial acumen and the ability to communicate and build strong relationships with all levels within the organisation.


What you’ll deliver with us

  • Provide strategic, commercial and financial insights to the Enterprise Services Team
  • Partner with asset owners within Enterprise Services and Business Stakeholders to understand TCO of their respective assets and opportunities for cost efficiencies.   
  • Maintenance and running of Technology Cost Transparency (TCT) model and liaising with Enterprise Services and Finance to update financial and operational inputs and analyse results
  • Develop the business case on financial costings, financial benefits, accounting treatment for project spend, asset useful life determination and depreciation assessment
  • Partner with the business to help them meet financial targets, monitoring operational budgets including cloud and software costs, monitoring technology costs on projects and reviewing balance sheet items
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying simplification and streamlining opportunities with the TCT processes

 

About you

  • Significant experience in the management of a costing application within a large complex organisation, demonstrate experience understanding of technology value chains and their drivers within a corporate environment
  • Experience in technology business management and financial management reporting
  • Demonstrate a high level of financial, analytical, and problem solving skills
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with various levels within the organisation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills demonstrating the ability to develop and document procedures, as well as providing on point reporting to relevant stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of accounting standards especially in relation to capitalisation of assets, and treatment of intangible assets
  • Performance as an independent thinker and ability to maintain integrity under pressure
  • High level of technical skills, including Alteryx, Tableau able to use GCP for data upload and manipulation
  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications in finance, mathematics or statistics with minimum 7 years experience in Finance related role
