About the opportunity
Based in Caringbah, reporting to the Territory Manager, the Facility Manager is responsible for managing and monitoring facility operations for the delivery, processing and collection of parcel and mail products. This includes:
- Working with a contractor fleet of up to 152 contractor vans to deliver an average of 19,000 parcels a day to a large catchment of the Sydney basin.
- Managing a team of 3 direct reports, working with a corporate team of 51 team members in the Postal Delivery Officer Delivery center and 27 team members across the van operations and PDC to sort and perform customer collections from an extensive client base.
- Ensuring safe, timely service standards and compliance obligations are met whilst driving effective cost management, business efficiencies, operational innovation, and network improvement.

You’ll also
- Oversee the delivery, processing and collection of operations for your facility to achieve service standards and Community Service Obligations (CSO).
- Lead activities for the achievement of short and long-term business objectives whilst meeting legal and legislative compliance.
- Manage facility budgets to meet financial operating plans, identify work synergies and realise specific cost savings and improvements within the facility.
- Engage, influence and secure active support from all key stakeholders to deliver business outcomes, including facility managers, team members, union contractors, government and community.
- Establish a safety leadership culture and manage all safety activities within the facility and ensure our people return home safely each day.
- Engage with contractor workforce at the depot and ensure inclusion in all relevant initiatives.
- Coach and develop the team through one-on-one conversations, team meetings and engagement activities.
- Provide advice and support in the management of HR issues and implementation of the group’s HR policies
- Possess significant operational leadership experience in a large complex organisation structure where quick decision making and cultural change initiatives are required.
- Have a track record of effective negotiation skills dealing with industrial relations conflicts and negotiations with Unions and difficult Workplace situations.
About you
You lead by example and demonstrate the ability to engage and influence your team and peers. You are skilled at identifying and reducing risk and implementing effective changes to achieve the best commercial outcomes. You will also have:
- Significant operational leadership experience in a large, complex organisation with fluctuating seasonal cycles.
- The ability to make quick decisions and remain calm in high-pressure situations
- Strong business acumen and a high level of understanding on financial management and strategy to grow profitable revenue and market share.
- Demonstrable negotiation skills regarding industrial relation conflicts and unions, as well as strong experience in dealing with workplace relations.
- Previous experience in driving and implementing cultural change initiatives.
You’ll also have
- Experience within logistics / transport and exposure to a unionised environment is essential.
- Excellent Knowledge of CoR and fatigue management
- Project and change management methodologies and processes.
