Help us deliver like never before
Australia Post is delivering like never before. From the vehicles that we drive, to the small businesses that make our communities thrive. We’re delivering for the environment, for our communities, for our customers and our people. We’re moving forward and we want you to come along for the ride.
About the opportunity
As our Engineering Operations Manager, you’ll play a vital leadership role in keeping our facilities running safely, efficiently, and reliably — ensuring that every parcel, letter, and package moves smoothly through our network.
You’ll lead and inspire a team of technical specialists across multiple facilities, creating a culture that values safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Your focus will be on enabling your people to perform at their best — supporting Shift Leads and technical teams with clear goals, structured development, and the resources they need to succeed.
Working closely with operational and planning teams, you’ll guide maintenance activities, champion innovation, and drive performance outcomes that keep our automation network operating at its peak.
Adaptability and connection are key — no two days are the same. You’ll work across facility hours, travel between sites, and engage with teams across the state to deliver on today’s challenges while shaping a stronger, smarter network for the future.
What you’ll deliver with us
In this role, you will lead a high-performing team that keeps our automation network moving - safely, efficiently, and reliably. Your focus will be on people first, ensuring your team is supported, empowered, and equipped to deliver outstanding results.
You’ll:
- Lead with purpose — creating a culture of safety, wellbeing, and accountability while mentoring and coaching your team to reach their full potential.
- Drive operational excellence — oversee real-time maintenance activities across Victoria’s processing facilities, ensuring equipment reliability and performance targets are consistently met.
- Champion continuous improvement — work collaboratively with technical planning teams and Shift Leads to optimise maintenance strategies, minimise downtime, and support innovation across our automated sites.
- Build strong connections — foster a ‘One Team’ mindset, working closely with internal stakeholders to align technical support with broader business goals and deliver an exceptional customer experience.
- Lead through change — guide your team through evolving operational needs, ensuring adaptability, engagement, and clear communication every step of the way.
In this role, success isn’t just about technical outcomes - it’s about how you inspire and empower those around you to deliver them.
About you
You’re an experienced people leader who knows how to bring out the best in your team. You thrive in dynamic, operational environments and understand the balance between people, process, and performance.
With a strong foundation in maintenance or engineering operations, you’re comfortable navigating complex, fast-paced facilities — but what truly sets you apart is your ability to lead through others. You’re approachable, proactive, and confident making decisions that drive both safety and efficiency.
You’ll bring:
- Proven experience leading teams in an operational or technical environment, fostering collaboration and accountability.
- A strong track record of partnering with operations teams to achieve business outcomes and meet KPIs.
- Experience managing Industrial Relations and operational strategy and implementation.
- Practical knowledge of maintenance principles, asset management, and continuous improvement processes such as Lean or root cause analysis.
- Experience managing change and supporting a positive, safe, and inclusive workplace culture.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across teams and levels.
- Highly desirable – a Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Business Management, or Industrial Relations (or progression towards completion).
You’re curious, forward-thinking, and driven to create impact — not just through technical performance, but through empowering people and improving how we work together.
