Description & Requirements

Help us deliver a better tomorrow
Australia Post is delivering for all Australians. From the vehicles that we drive, to the small businesses that make our communities thrive. We’re delivering for the environment, for our communities, for our customers and for our people. We’re moving forward and we want you to come along for the ride.

About the opportunity

As a Data Solutions Lead within the Freight Services team, you will own and drive the definition and delivery of data‑led solutions for priority business use cases. Working closely with business stakeholders and specialist data teams, you will identify where data and analytics can deliver the greatest value, shape clear product requirements, and prioritise delivery to enable data‑driven decision‑making across product strategy, pricing, and freight experience. You will play a key role in modernising the data landscape and establishing foundational enterprise data capabilities aligned to Freight’s long‑term vision.

The role requires strong stakeholder leadership and collaboration, operating as a trusted partner across Freight Services and the broader organisation. You will engage confidently with senior stakeholders, navigate complex delivery environments, and provide clear guidance on trade‑offs, risks, and outcomes. By combining product ownership, technical understanding of data warehousing, and delivery focus, you will help unblock teams and drive sustained progress against Freight Services’ strategic objectives.

What you’ll deliver with us

•            Own endtoend delivery of data solutions for defined business use cases, from requirements through to implementation.

•            Prioritise delivery effectively, balancing business value, technical dependencies, delivery risk and platform constraints.

•            Assess usecase needs and shape delivery approaches, identifying the skills and capabilities required across delivery teams.

•            Influence decisionmaking at all levels, helping stakeholders understand insights and the story behind the data to support strategic planning.

•            Support strategic insight delivery and futurestate design, contributing to enterprise data solutions, tooling, strategy, and supporting frameworks.

About you

You will have exceptional business and commercial acumen and a data engineering background with an understanding of data and some knowledge of how that fits in with products or large programs of work.

You’ll also need

•            Proficient in programming languages and tools used for data engineering and governance such as SQL, Python, CI/CD deployments etc.

•            Strong handson understanding of enterprise data warehouse architectures, including data ingestion, transformation, modelling, and consumption layers.

•            Highly developed understanding of data engineering, data governance, and data modelling best practices, including data quality, lineage, metadata management, and performance optimisation.

•            Experience working with cloudbased data platforms such as Google Cloud (preferred), AWS, or Azure, including building and operating enterprise data warehouses.

•            Experience supporting analytics, reporting, or selfservice BI platforms built on top of data warehouses.

How we’ll deliver for you

  • Be part of one of the largest programs of work in logistics in Australia.
  • Develop your experience and thrive in a culture of collaboration.
  • A great benefits package and market leading culture, hybrid working from our Burnley office with great transport links.
