Help us deliver like never before
Australia Post is delivering like never before. From first mile to last mile, data underpins how we design, operate and continuously improve our network.
We’re strengthening our AI‑driven capabilities across Network Operations and are looking for a Data Solutions Analyst (AI & Tools) to help turn complex operational data into trusted, decision‑ready insights and tools.
About the opportunity
We work in a fast‑moving operational environment where priorities shift, problems are complex, and decisions matter. This role suits someone who can bring structure to ambiguity, think clearly under pressure, and design analytics and AI solutions that are practical, explainable and used day‑to‑day.
You’ll work closely with Network Analytics, Safety, Operations, Digital and Technology teams, helping leaders and frontline teams make informed decisions that balance service, safety, cost and risk.
About the role
This is a hands‑on role focused on analytics, automation and AI‑enabled decision support across Network Operations.
You will design and operationalise data and AI solutions that move beyond static reporting—embedding insights into workflows and supporting real‑world decisions.
Strong technical capability is essential, but just as important is your ability to design usable products that people trust and adopt.
What you’ll deliver
Stakeholder partnership & decision influence
- Partner with operational and commercial teams to align analytics and AI solutions to priority outcomes
- Translate complex analytical and ML outputs into clear, decision‑focused narratives
- Support prioritisation by articulating value, risk and trade‑offs backed by data
- Build trust by delivering practical, explainable and relevant solutions
AI‑enabled decision support
- Design and operationalise AI‑driven decision systems that go beyond static model outputs, using agentic workflows to reason across signals, prioritise actions and support operational decision‑making.
- Combine model signals, business rules and operational context into prioritisation and triage logic
- Support human‑in‑the‑loop decision making, particularly where safety or accountability is critical
Machine learning operationalisation
- Support the full ML lifecycle: data preparation, features, model outputs, decision logic and monitoring
- Partner with Data Science teams to move models from experimentation into stable, production use
Automation & continuous improvement
- Use automation and AI‑enabled tools to reduce manual effort and improve turnaround time
- Identify reporting, data or process gaps that can be streamlined
- Enable self‑service analytics through trusted datasets, tools and documentation
- Apply responsible and ethical AI practices aligned with Australia Post governance
Data & analytics engineering
- Design and maintain scalable, production‑grade datasets in cloud platforms (e.g. BigQuery, Dataform, Airflow/Composer)
- Apply analytics engineering best practices (layered modelling, clear dependencies)
- Implement CI/CD‑aligned workflows, testing and governance
- Collaborate with engineers, analysts and data scientists to productionise AI‑enabled solutions
About you
You’re a pragmatic, commercially minded analyst who enjoys working at the intersection of data, operations and decision‑making. You focus on outcomes and understand how analytics and AI can improve efficiency without compromising safety, service or customer experience.
You’ll also bring
- 3+ years’ experience in network, supply chain or operational analytics
- Strong SQL capability, with clear judgement on SQL vs Python in production
- 3+ years’ Experience building analytics‑ready datasets in cloud data platforms GCP
- Familiarity with analytics engineering and CI/CD practices (Git, testing, promotion)
- Experience supporting ML models in operational or production contexts
- Strong communication skills and confidence influencing stakeholders
- Experience working in governed environments with safety and accountability requirements
- Use of Jira and Confluence for delivery, documentation and handover
