What you’ll deliver with us
As our Data Practice Lead you will lead a team of 6 Data Engineers in designing and developing complex solutions delivering data enhancements for our Enterprise Services. You will build the practical crafts and ways of working. The team will also implement processes and standards that ensure the efficient running of the Data Engineering DevOps practice. In addition, strategic technology is in Google Cloud Platform such as BigQuery, Composer and Cloud Functions. Familiarity with graph database technologies, graph optimisation algorithms and tree traversal (preferred) is advantageous.
You will utilise your knowledge of GCP Data Lake and Data Warehouse in a way of DevOps to build enterprise data asset and implement best-practice Data Engineering DevOps standards into the team. With a focus on leveraging cloud services and development tools, increasing the quality and reliability of output, along with the speed of delivery, and reducing friction of our development, delivery, and maintenance operations. As a thought leader you will have the ability to educate wider teams on the value of data and innovation.
You’ll also
- Define and implement best practices for data engineering processes, encompassing data ingestion, transformation, storage, and analysis, with a focus on efficiency, scalability, and reliability.
- Lead Data Engineers to deliver data visibility and automation across the enhances Product, Customer, Network, Retail, and corporate service teams.
- Support with the Data Engineering strategic roadmap, further maturing the data engineering practices.
- Drive the effective use of cloud data resources and technologies ensuring the development and delivery of high-quality, reliable, efficient and optimised solutions, considering the full lifecycle impact and cost of the technology.
- Spearhead the analysis of large multi-dimensional datasets, selecting the most appropriate data technology to deliver the insights and recommendations required quickly.
- Helps drive simplification and standardisation of our Enterprise Data ecosystem, designing and building solutions that are aligned with our Data Strategy ecosystem roadmap, and reduces dependency on legacy systems.
About you
You are an experience leader who has strong practical experience with Data Governance standards for sustainable and scalable Data Engineering. On a day-to-day basis you will be guiding the team on what technology to utilise, provide technical reviews and guidance on the best ways of working. You will also ensure Data Engineering solutions are developed according to the Enterprise Data Governance standards for data quality, security, accessibility, and availability. Experience with delivery management, and stakeholder leadership experience is crucial. You will partner with Data Science, Software Engineering, Network, Operations, Retail, Customer Service, Sales, Finance and other business teams.
You’ll also need
- Experience working in large complex organisations.
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform services, particularly BigQuery, Composer, and Cloud Functions or other equivalent cloud developer services for Data Engineering.
- People management background as a Data Engineering Lead or Senior Manager comfortable providing development, onboarding approaches and processes.
- Ability to contribute to data governance, data architecture and data strategy for large complex enterprises.
- Strong understanding of data orchestration, workflow pipeline engineering technologies and software engineering dev-ops practices supporting enterprise production standards.
- Python (preferred), or other object-oriented language and software engineering skills with understanding of code versioning, collaboration, testing, reliability, and accessibility, technologies and standards.
- Practical experience in statistical data analytics with knowledge of Process/Entity/Data modelling.
