About the opportunity  

Reporting to the Head of Legal, you will be responsible for managing and influencing stakeholders on a range of real estate and general advisory matters. 


 

What you’ll deliver with us  

  • Negotiate sale, acquisition and leasing agreements for significant industrial sites
  • Advise on property portfolio management, including industrial and retail leasing
  • Advise on a broad range of general real estate matters including, environmental, heritage and construction.
  • Draft and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements that achieve business objectives and allocate risk in accordance with risk appetite
  • Provide pragmatic legal support to your stakeholders to manage their legal obligations in accordance with Australia Post’s risk appetite and regulatory framework
  • Assist the enterprise to meet its strategic objectives and priorities
  • Provide independent, strategically focused legal advice that adds value for Australia Post
  • Be a team player, support your peers, and promote the value and reputation of Group Legal
  • Be aware of emerging trends and new legislation, and be able to incorporate these changes into your legal advice
  • Advocate for strong corporate ethics and governance
  • Develop and maintain standard form legal documentation, resources and toolkits
  • Optimise the value and quality of legal services from external legal resources
  • Assist in training the business to understand its legal rights and compliance obligations
  • Proactively look for opportunities to simplify the way we deliver legal services to the enterprise



About you
  

As a trusted advisor to the business, you will need to have:

  • At least 5 years post-admission experience, having worked at a top-tier firm, or having relevant in-house experience
  • An unrestricted Australian practicing certificate
  • Broad experience across general real estate matters
  • Strong leasing (commercial and retail) experience
  • Strong general commercial advisory experience
  • Great problem-solving skills and the ability to generate pragmatic, commercially focussed solutions to assist in the success of business initiatives
  • Excellent drafting and communication skills
  • The ability to build strong relationships and effectively influence internal and external stakeholders. 
  • A proactive positive attitude


Experience in any of the following areas of practice would be of additional value, but is not essential - litigation, construction, and regulated industries.
