About the opportunity
Reporting to Senior Communications Manager (Business Unit Communications), the Communications Advisor is part of the team that carries responsibility for protecting and enhancing Australia Post’s reputation and its social license to operate, which is achieved through the delivery of Australia Post’s communications strategy.
You will also have responsibility for creating one true voice throughout internal communications and flow through some external, developing and implementing communications plans that support our strategic initiatives. You will be working collaboratively across the enterprise and business teams, building effective relationships at all levels of the business and developing a deep understanding of business needs and stakeholder audiences.
What you’ll deliver with us
- Help deliver on the Communications strategy and think about strategic initiatives that will improve communication and drive understanding for our team members
- Build trusted relationships with leaders across the business, prepare creative and compelling content, briefs, messaging and presentations as needed
- Work with Business Unit teams to develop a deep understanding of the particular interests, agendas, issues and opportunities to work collaboratively
- Support key enterprise projects and initiatives by developing and advising on communications approaches to enhance team member and stakeholder engagement
- Work with Executive Managers and Executive Assistants to deliver key events (e.g. Town Halls)
- Participate in enterprise-wide project teams on business continuity issues and responses
- Help find, investigate and communicate internal good news stories
- Collaborate with the wider Communications team to ensure consistency of business messages and alignment with enterprise-wide programs
- Support the Enterprise Communications team, when needed
- Help manage the calendar of communications activity
About you
You are a communications specialist who likes to get things done. You are curious, creative and can translate complex information for frontline team members. You are organised, efficient, adaptable and have a solution-focused attitude. You enjoy building strong relationships with team members and stakeholders across the business.
What are we looking for?
- 3+ years' experience as communications professional in a large or dynamic organisation
- Experience in developing, executing, and evaluating communication plans
- Excellent understanding of a wide variety of communication channels and techniques, including digital communications
- Experience working for organisations in the retail or logistics industry that have a geographically spread workforce is preferred but not essential
- Natural curiosity about issues and developments about current news issues, and in the broader community socio- political environment
- Creative, organised and efficient
- Experience with creative production process, e.g. video, graphic design and event management
- Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, change communication and project management skills
- Understanding of issues and reputational impact
