Help us deliver a better tomorrow
We’re looking for a Cloud FinOps Engineer to join our diverse, talented and innovative Digital & Technology team. Together, we’re helping our customers and communities build a better future.
At Australia Post, we design, build and maintain products, services and experiences Australians love and trust — while delivering a sustainable future for our business and the communities we serve. If you’re excited by technology that has real, measurable impact at enterprise scale, this role gives you the opportunity to be part of it.
We’re empowered to deliver for our teams and to delight our customers. We provide an inclusive and supportive environment that nurtures talented people, trusts our teams to deliver their best, and embraces modern ways of working and technology.
What you’ll deliver with us
As our Cloud FinOps Engineer, you’ll play a key role in building and maturing Australia Post’s cloud financial management capability. You’ll sit at the intersection of engineering, finance and operations, helping application teams understand, optimise and take ownership of their cloud consumption — without compromising performance, security or delivery.
Reporting to the Cloud FinOps Lead within Trusted Technical Services – Cloud & Infrastructure, you’ll work closely with cloud platform teams, application managers, finance business partners and engineering leaders across Australia Post and StarTrack.
You’ll also:
- Monitor, analyse and optimise cloud spend across AWS, GCP and Azure, with a strong focus on GCP workloads
- Partner with application teams to design and implement cost‑efficient architectures, guardrails and optimisation strategies
- Identify savings opportunities through rightsizing, scheduling and resource optimisation, and support teams to implement them
- Develop and uplift FinOps reporting and tooling (including CloudAbility), providing transparency, insight and actionable recommendations
- Educate stakeholders on cloud cost drivers and FinOps best practices, helping build a culture of financial accountability across engineering teams
About you
You’re analytical, curious and comfortable operating in complex environments. You enjoy working with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders, translating data into insights and influencing better outcomes. You’re pragmatic, solutions‑focused and motivated by seeing tangible results from your work.
You’re also someone who enjoys building things from the ground up — helping mature practices, shaping new ways of working and bringing people on the journey, rather than enforcing rules from the sidelines
You will also have:
- Hands‑on experience in Cloud FinOps, with a strong engineering or cloud operations background
- Experience working with one or more major cloud platforms (GCP, AWS and/or Azure) in an enterprise environment
- Strong skills in cloud cost analysis, reporting and optimisation, including tools such as CloudAbility or native cloud billing platforms
- The ability to engage confidently with engineers, finance partners and senior stakeholders to influence decision‑making.
How we’ll deliver for you
At Australia Post, we’re proud to be a trusted, inclusive, and forward-thinking organisation that reflects the communities we serve. Joining our team means being part of a culture built on our core values—Trust, Inclusivity, Empowerment, and Safety—our TIES that bind us together.
- Join an iconic Australian brand and leading logistics organisation with over 200 years of trusted service.
- Excellent career development and long-term growth opportunities
- The opportunity to build and shape a maturing FinOps capability in one of Australia’s largest and most complex cloud environments
- Exposure to multiple cloud platforms and high‑impact applications, with clear visibility of the financial and technical outcomes you drive
- A supportive, inclusive team culture that values curiosity, collaboration, wellbeing and continuous growth
