What you’ll deliver with us
The Senior Data Technology Specialist/Cloud Engineer will manage and operate our enterprise data and analytics technology platforms, Google Cloud and Infrastructure, Looker, Collibra, Profisee MDM, NEO4J, with a focus on Vertex AI and Monitoring of AI and ML solutions and practices. These platforms are to be maintained and monitored to deliver efficient and effective services for our enterprise data community. You’ll look to operationalise these platforms to enable service automation and optimisation, including cloud Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and monitoring.
Reporting directly into the Data Services Manager you will identify and implement best-practice application administration and service operation, with a focus on increasing the reliability, availability, accessibility, currency, and security of our enterprise data tools; prioritising cloud-first, self-service enablement. Maintaining our most critical data analytics infrastructure, this role will help to deliver cost effective, impactful data technology services that help to unlock data solutions for our enterprise. Delivering leading edge capability for machine learning, graph optimisation, cloud data engineering, business analytics and visualisation.
You’ll also
- Ensure our enabling data platforms are available, accessible, secure, and up to date, for use by the data community.
- Work on initiatives that allow our data platforms to be are supported to deliver efficient user self-service, and reduce the barriers for responsible data innovation across our enterprise.
- Partner with data technology vendors to bring the latest platform features and capability into Australia Post. Provide feedback, manage vendor tickets and lead vendor engagement on behalf of platform users.
- Ensure our data platforms enable good data governance, and are deployed and configured to ensure application security, and data loss prevention.
- Proactively manage data technology life-cycle roadmaps, ensuring platforms meet our business' current and future needs. Ensure data technology change is managed to consider the full cost of change, and delivering a clear ROI.
- Proactively monitor and manage data platform usage, to ensure support, infrastructure and licensing costs meet expected targets.
- Support effective self-service user administration, and the use of automation for application management and servicing, reducing the cost to maintain and support data platforms.
About you
Seeking out interested and aspiring data practitioners and helps to build a strong and diverse pool of future practitioners. You will be able to build strong relationships with customers, business partners, and peers. Internally you will be in partnership with Data Engineering, Data Solutions, Engineering, Security, Network, Architecture and other technical teams. Understanding of machine learning technology industry advances as well as a good grasp of enterprise/government data technology initiatives is advantageous in this role.
You’ll also need
- Background working as a Cloud Engineer using GCP or other cloud platforms to provision Data platforms using IaC
- Advanced knowledge of AI ML Vertex and AI Platform and NEO4J is desirable.
- Understanding of GCP (Instances, BigQuerry, IAM, Security Principles) is preferred.
- Knowledge of object-oriented language paradigms and software engineering skills.
- General knowledge around Data technologies and processes.
- Professional experience with infrastructure support in any cloud environment. Skilled in patching, upgrading and building infrastructure.
- Expertise in general Infrastructure, networks, authentication, and cloud ops and build.
- Knowledge of code versioning, collaboration, testing, reliability, and accessibility, technologies and standards is useful in this role.
- Technology Cloud Certification is highly regarded.
