About the opportunity
In response to dramatic social and technological changes affecting Australia, Australia Post has embarked on a rapid transformation of its business model to better suit the needs of its customers and ensure it remains contemporary and relevant. Following the successful delivery of the Future Ready strategy, Australia Post is now beginning the next wave of change which will reposition it as a truly customer focused organisation, with a broad offer beyond communications, and differentiated go-to-market propositions and associated brands. In so doing it must ensure it continues to fulfil its remit to be both commercially successful and to serve the community.
What you’ll deliver with us
Reporting to the Group CFO (GCFO), the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) has the following strategic accountabilities:
- Develop the top-of-house risk, compliance, and security settings commensurate with the Australia Post (AP) group strategy ensuring the overall exposure is consistent with the CEO’s guidance
- A primary and intergenerational protector of shareholder value, reputation and sustainable capability
- Provision of advice and counsel to the CFO, CEO, and the Board
- Protect the rights of customers and other parties we interact with through the role of Chief Privacy Officer
- Provide guidance and support to our business and the holding businesses accountable for the risks they generate and own

- Identify, analyse, and mitigate internal and external risks that impact the entire organisation and actively manage risks associated with international expansion
- Drive Board and Executive dialogue and guidance on Enterprise risk and commercially intelligent insight and behavior appetite, tolerances, profile, and emerging issues
- Work closely with the Business unit EGMs to ensure risk and compliance management resources are present and capable proportionate to the exposures generated by the business
- Hold Treasury delegations for funding and financial risk management consistent with Treasury Strategy and Policy
- Maintain the fit-for-purpose first and second line of defence risk and security management capability
- Own, create, or influence enterprise governance structures across all risk classes
- Convene and advise the Integrity Assurance Committee
About you
- Demonstrable experience managing multi-million dollar assurance budgets
- Experience driving Board and Executive dialogue and guidance on Enterprise risk and commercially intelligent behaviours
- Experience leading a professional team that provides first and second line of defence risk and security management services and advice that is fact based, strategically focused, commercially relevant and adds value to the business in the short and long term
- Experience designing and implementing a risk assessment process to ensure that existing and emerging risks are appropriately identified and managed
