What you’ll deliver with us

The Business Solutions Lead role supports the Head of Technology Retail Services, partnering closely with Retail Services stakeholders to understand business strategy and roadmaps, providing technical and industry expertise to inform and shape initiatives to deliver on outcomes. 


The role involves supporting the Retail Services business unit and wider Retail Technology teams to identify and prioritise initiatives, raise L0/L1/L2 requests and support initial estimations. 


You will develop comprehensive, integrated business and technology roadmaps, keeping abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies, and leading initial proof of concepts. 


You’ll also:

  • Define, develop and support execution of the Retail Technology strategy that balances innovation, digital enablement, disciplined execution and operational excellence aligned to the business ambitions for Retail Services (in conjunction with Retail Technology).
  • Contribute towards the creation and execution of the Technology Architecture blueprints and roadmaps that are customer centric, well socialised, endorsed and are key enablers for our businesses to achieve their strategic and operational objectives. 
  • Manage the engagement with Retail Services businesses, working across our businesses and technology to ensure alignment to Customer priorities and ensuring that a step change in our customer’s experience is achieved through technology.
  • Lead a governance structure that aligns Technology initiatives with business priorities while balancing resource constraints (human and commercial) to optimise Technology investments (investment program) within Retail Services.
  • Negotiate and influence the most optimal business and customer commercial outcomes with internal/external service providers. 
  • Manage strategic vendor relationships and support colleagues to drive service performance from delivery partners.
  • Act as a business change driver to improve value, operational efficiency and productivity.


About you, you’ll have: 

  • Demonstrated experience in leading Technology teams in delivering end-to-end Technology services (plan, build, run).
  • Demonstrated experience in defining, developing and executing Technology strategies that are aligned to business ambitions.
  • Demonstrated experience of a close working relationship supporting Executive leaders in assessing commercial opportunities and risks throughout the business.
  • Has previously built and led multi-disciplinary teams (e.g. business, IT, project, vendors). 
  • Optimised and consolidated sourcing strategy in a complex and immature vendor management environment, accelerating governance and process consistency and maturity.
  • Experience managing conflicting business, financial and technology priorities across multiple stakeholders and ability to function successfully in a constantly changing environment.
  • Has demonstrated extensive knowledge of key market drivers, industry players and latest developments within the Technology industry.
  • Postal, Retail industry or large complex enterprise experience would be advantageous.           

Needless to say, you will have excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. You will also have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross functional teams, influence stakeholders, and lead/ drive change.
