Description & Requirements

Help us deliver transformation at national scale

Australia Post is delivering like never before. From the infrastructure that underpins our network, to the technology that enables millions of customer connections every day, we are transforming how one of Australia’s largest supply chains operates.

As we continue to modernise and automate our network, we are looking for experienced delivery and assurance leaders who are keen to apply their skills in a new operational and technology context. If you have worked in complex, high‑risk environments and enjoy being close to delivery, this role offers the opportunity to step into large‑scale automation and network transformation with strong organisational backing and purpose.

About the opportunity

Australia Post is undertaking a significant pipeline of transformation across Network Operations, reshaping how our facilities, assets and systems work together across the country.

As our Automation and Robotics Assurance Manager, you will provide oversight and assurance across a portfolio of complex automation and robotics-driven change initiatives. Based within our Infrastructure and Assets group, your role will be at the forefront of integrating advanced robotics and automated systems into operational environments. You will collaborate closely with operations, engineering, and delivery teams to ensure new automation technologies and robotics solutions are implemented safely, effectively and with robust governance, driving innovation throughout our network.

You do not need to be an automation specialist to succeed in this role. We are interested in people who bring sound judgement, strong delivery discipline, and the ability to manage risk in live operational environments, and who are excited to transfer those skills into automation and network transformation.

The role is primarily based across Port Melbourne, Richmond, and Tullamarine, with regular on‑site presence required. During installation, testing and commissioning phases, extended time on site is expected. Some interstate travel will be required.

What you will be responsible for

In this role, you will function as an assurance and delivery leader across major infrastructure and automation initiatives. You will:

  • Provide delivery oversight, governance, and assurance across complex programs and projects.
  • Support and oversee testing, commissioning, readiness, and safe introduction activities in live operational environments.
  • Work closely with system integrators, vendors, and internal teams to ensure outcomes align to safety, quality, cost, and schedule expectations.
  • Partner with operations, engineering, and project teams to ensure solutions are practical, operable, and fit for purpose.
  • Translate technical and delivery detail into clear risks, impacts and recommendations for senior stakeholders.
  • Contribute to a strong culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement across Network Operations.

About you

We are open to candidates from a range of backgrounds who are ready to apply their experience in a new context. You may come from infrastructure delivery, operations, engineering, manufacturing, logistics, utilities, defence, resources, FMCG or other complex asset‑intensive environments.

You will bring:

  • Experience providing delivery oversight, assurance, governance, or operational leadership on complex initiatives.
  • Exposure to high‑risk, safety‑critical or live operational environments
  • Confidence collaborating with technical specialists, vendors, contractors, and delivery teams.
  • The ability to understand complex systems and translate that complexity into practical operational outcomes.
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to engage and influence at senior levels.
  • A pragmatic, outcomes‑focused approach, and a willingness to learn and grow into new technology domains.

Experience with automation, material handling systems or advanced operational technology is beneficial but not essential. What matters most is your ability to lead assurance, manage risk and support safe, successful delivery.
