Australia Post is delivering like never before. From the vehicles that we drive, to the small businesses that make our communities thrive. We’re delivering for the environment, for our communities, for our customers and our people. We’re moving forward and we want you to come along for the ride.

About the opportunity
At Australia Post, we take pride in our rich history and the stories that have shaped our services and communities. As the Archivist / Collection Officer, you will play a key role in preserving and managing our historical assets to ensure they are catalogued, maintained and protected for future generations.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for assembling, authenticating and archiving materials such as philatelic design artwork, stamp proofs, and heritage collections in line with the Archives Act. Working closely with the Head of Information and Data Compliance, you’ll support the accurate documentation and transfer of items to the National Archives or appropriate secondary storage, while ensuring the integrity and completeness of our collection is upheld.

This is a unique opportunity to work with some of Australia’s most iconic historical materials and contribute to the preservation of our national heritage.

What you’ll deliver with us

As the Archivist / Collection Officer, you’ll help safeguard Australia Post’s heritage by ensuring our historical collections are preserved, catalogued, and managed to the highest standards. Your work will directly support regulatory compliance, commercial performance, and cultural preservation.

You will:

  • Build strong relationships with providers and regulators to support operational and commercial outcomes
  • Ensure compliance with archiving and preservation regulations through timely, accurate documentation and reporting
  • Monitor consumables and transport usage to support cost-effective delivery of archival services
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and preservation practices through innovation and stakeholder feedback
  • Champion a culture of safety, compliance, and collaboration, supporting the One Team mindset and fostering pride in Australia Post’s history

About you

You’re an organised and detail-oriented professional with a background in records or information management, passionate about preserving history and ensuring compliance. You bring a strong understanding of archiving principles, including the proper preservation and transfer of historical collections in accordance with regulatory standards.

You’ll be comfortable navigating a complex environment, balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders while maintaining focus on timely and compliant collection management. Your excellent communication skills and collaborative approach will help you build strong working relationships both internally and externally, supporting transparency and sound decision-making.

You’ll ideally hold a tertiary qualification in Information Management or a related discipline and have knowledge of Australia Post’s history and corporate context. Your ability to provide insightful data and reporting will contribute to effective project planning and regulatory compliance.
