What you’ll deliver with us
Our Architecture Practice Lead is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing and maturing the Enterprise Architecture (EA) discipline across the organization. This is a process role focuses on establishing, managing, and enhancing EA practices, processes, and tools to ensure alignment with business objectives, promote consistency, and drive effective technology decision-making. Reporting directly into the CTO you will lead a team of architects and other staff, foster collaboration across technology and business units, and ensure the EA discipline delivers measurable value through robust governance and innovative frameworks.
We are looking for a process person in this operational role who can run the architecture shop at Australia Post. Risk and compliance management is a key aspect of this position. You will ensure EA practices align with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and organisational policies. The Practice Lead will identify and mitigate risks related to architectural misalignment or technical debt. Additionally, this role supports audit activities by providing clear documentation and governance oversight. Driving continuous improvement by adopting modern approached, such as Agile architecture, DevOps integration, and outcome-driven frameworks is critical.
You’ll also
- Define and refine the organization’s EA framework, methodologies, and best practices to support cohesive technology and business alignment.
- Develop and maintain standardised processes for architecture design, documentation, and review.
- Establish metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness and maturity of the EA practice.
- Design and implement governance processes to ensure architectural decisions adhere to standards, policies, and organisational goals.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of architecture artifacts, such as blueprints, roadmaps, and reference models.
- Select, implement, and optimise tools (e.g., LeanIX) to support the practice of enterprise architecture and ensure tools are integrated with broader technology systems to enhance workflow.
- Facilitate architecture review boards and decision-making forums to guide technology investments and initiatives
- Lead initiatives to modernize legacy architecture processes and tools to enhance agility and responsiveness.
About you
We are seeking an individual with exceptional written and oral presentation skills who can influence executive audiences by preparing and presenting technical subject matter. Internally you will work with delivery teams to ensure architecture principles, standards and designs are embedded in delivery. We are looking for a strong leader who can manage a variable workforce of 5 FTE’s and contractors. You will provide expert advice on sourcing approaches and vendor recommendations as well.
You’ll also need
- Demonstrated experience running or establishing architecture governance at an enterprise level in a transformational environment
- Background working as an enterprise architect with a focus on governance, planning, practices and tooling
- Previously led architecture teams and process with well developed relationship management skills
- Ability to present at executive committees, work with board strategy and governance materials is advantageous
- Understanding of different business or technology domains with experience leading the planning, roadmaps, certifications, governance and target state of an enterprise architecture practice
- Familiarity with LeanIX or other application inventory tools is well regarded as is a TOGAF certification
- Awareness of global best architecture practices and relevant regulatory frameworks around PII
