What you’ll deliver with us 

As our Head of Technology - Cloud Engineering  you are accountable for the Cloud Platforms (AWS, Azure & GCP). This is a key role in driving the hosting strategy and supporting AusPost teams to effectively manage their cloud operations. Reporting directly into our General Manager of Technology Enterprise Enablement you will lead the evaluation process to select, implement and maintain the best cloud solutions for the organisation and ensure that robust security management and privacy requirements are incorporated into cloud hardware, software and applications. You will aim to improve transparency, service quality, service continuity and availability for all accountable services

The role is responsible for the design and management of the organisation’s cloud systems, applications, policies and strategy and manages the development of scalable architecture to support applications and infrastructure on IaaS and PaaS platforms. This role works closely with internal and external strategic partners to deliver business value. Additionally, this role is accountable for implementing cloud-related best practices surrounding Fin Ops, Architecture, Product Management, Security, Platform and Product Engineering.


You’ll also   

  • Spearhead the enterprise hosting strategy and the cloud transformation roadmap.  
  • Uplift teams in accelerating cloud adoption by leading teams to act on application level transformation initiatives.
  • Design long term user-centric strategies and implement sustainable Cloud services to enhance business capabilities.
  • Drive continuous improvement via the use of common tools, frameworks, resources, practices, patterns, partners and platforms as well as driving service efficiency via automation and self-service across all accountable domains.
  • Accountable for Cloud Asset Lifecycle Management including investment plans required to accelerate legacy modernisation
  • Improve the Fin Ops capability to pivot to a full chargeback model with the broader business. 
  • Provision of stable Technology platforms whilst considering the current aging infrastructure.


About You

You are a thought leader who is passionate about partnering with technical teams to build delivery capability. Key stakeholders include General Managers and Executive General Managers. These connections are crucial to ensure solutions are delivered on-time. Having strong market knowledge of key service providers and government agencies is advantageous. Being agile and able to operate in a constantly changing environment is crucial.

You’ll also need   

  • Proven ability in driving cloud transformation programs and influenced program outcomes beyond span of control.
  • Expert technology thought leader in Cloud services and all related technologies.
  • Exposure to private & public Cloud platforms (i.e., IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Service delivery, vendor and contractual management experience, accountable for 3rd party contracts in excess of $7m spend per annum and enterprise responsibility across $15m per annum of 3rd party relationships.
  • Background in managing large teams (over 100 people) and over $12m per annum labour budget.
  • Experience managing conflicting business, financial and technology priorities across multiple stakeholders.
  • Recognition of cost constraints, appropriate service standards with ability to ensure governance consistency and maturity.
