About the opportunity

Reporting to the ‘General Manager, Property’, the Head of Real Estate Solutions is responsible for leading the strategic development, management, and optimization of the property portfolio, aligning it with the Enterprise Roadmap and Future Network Plan. This includes driving asset strategies for acquisitions, divestments, redevelopment and renewals and ensuring that property decisions meet operational and financial objectives. 

 

Australia Post’s property portfolio comprises approximately 1,600 assets nationally, including industrial and logistics properties, retail outlets, and heritage sites. By building area, 39% of the portfolio is owned and valued at $2.4 billion (market value), while 61% is leased with an annual rent of $300 million. These assets are critical to support diverse operational needs such as retail services, letter and parcel facilities, and transport hubs.

 

What you’ll deliver with us

You will oversee long-term property planning, land banking, and greenfield developments to secure tenure and support the corporation’s growth while leveraging capital efficiently to fund critical investments.

 

You’ll also  

  • Deliver innovative solutions to meet evolving customer and operational needs in industrial, retail, and heritage property sectors
  • Develop a property strategy and lead its implementation ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives, including asset optimization and future network planning
  • Manage land banking and long-term catchment planning to secure critical logistics property pipeline
  • Oversee a $2.4 billion owned property portfolio, ensuring efficient capital use through rigorous financial modelling and scenario analysis
  • Raise capital by structuring and executing monetization strategies for owned properties while maintaining necessary operational control
  • Provide financial recommendations for buy vs. lease scenarios, greenfield developments, and sale-and-leaseback options

 

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Business, or any related field
  • Strong financial acumen, particularly in property valuation and transaction structuring
  • Extensive experience and proven track record in handling large-scale corporate real estate, property investment & transactions, portfolio and capital management
  • Deep understanding of the Australian property market, including logistics, industrial, and retail trends 
  • Familiarity with regulations affecting property development ((including Heritage sites), leasing, and asset sales 
  • Leadership experience in managing large-scale portfolios and diverse teams
  • Experience in delivering results cross-functionality, in a complex, matrix environment Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders at all levels
