What you’ll deliver with us

As our Data Modeler

  • Design and build the enterprise data model, encompassing conceptual, logical, and physical data models that align with business requirements and data strategies.
  • Define data entities, relationships, and attributes, ensuring the model supports current and future business needs.
  • Map source data into the enterprise data model and maintain updated and organised documentation of such mapping.
  • Support the Principal Data Modeller to establish the practice, define patterns, standards and principles that will guide the activities of project data modellers and external contractors.
  • Conduct data modelling activities and deliverables to meet the demands and expectations of BAU initiatives, projects and programs of work.  
  • Develop and enforce data modelling standards, guidelines, and best practices to ensure consistency, accuracy, and quality across the enterprise data model.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in data modelling and apply them to improve the data modelling processes.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for the enterprise data model, including data definitions, schemas, and data flow diagrams.
  • Manage metadata associated with the data model, ensuring it is accurate, up-to-date, and accessible to relevant stakeholders

About you  

This role will support the Principal Data Modeller to develop and maintain the Australia Post Enterprise Data Model, a critical data management component that will support our data architecture, analytics & AI, and business operations. The Data Modeller will work closely with stakeholders across the organization to understand our Enterprise data and translate them into a consolidated and standard data model to be used as reference for different data initiatives.

The Data Modeller will also participate in key data projects to support data modelling activities and will work closely with stakeholders across the organization to understand data requirements and translate them into robust, scalable data models.

 

You’ll also need   

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data modelling, data architecture, or a related role.
  • Deep knowledge of diverse data modelling techniques such as dimensional modelling, data vault, 3NF, etc.
  • Strong expertise in developing conceptual, logical, and physical data models for large, complex organizations.
  • Proficiency with data modelling tools (e.g., ER/Studio, ERwin, PowerDesigner).
  • Deep understanding of database management systems, data warehousing, and big data technologies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data models to both technical and non-technical audiences.
