About the opportunity  

The Communications Manager (12-month contract) will develop and implement communications that support strategic initiatives relating to Network Operations and Retail.


You will work to bring Australia Post's priorities to life via internal communications, with some flow into external. You will also build effective relationships at all levels of the organisation and develop a deep understanding of business needs and audiences. 


Critical to this role will be working collaboratively across the broader communications team. The role will provide tactical and project support to the Senior Communications Manager, the Head of, and the General Manager.


You’ll be responsible for

  • Help deliver on the Communications strategy and think about strategic initiatives that will improve communication and drive understanding for our team members
  • Build trusted relationships with leaders across the business, prepare creative and compelling content, briefs, messaging and presentations as needed 
  • Work with Business Unit teams to develop a deep understanding of the particular interests, agendas, issues and opportunities to work collaboratively 
  • Support key enterprise projects and initiatives by developing and advising on communications approaches to enhance team member and stakeholder engagement 
  • Work with Executive Managers and Executive Assistants to deliver key events (e.g. Town Halls) 
  • Help investigate and distribute internal good news stories 
  • Collaborate with the wider Communications team to ensure consistency of business messages and alignment with enterprise-wide programs 
  • Support the Enterprise Communications team when needed, and help manage the calendar of communications activity 
  • Work with the Head of Team and Senior Communications Managers to identify opportunities for innovation for the Team and manage innovation projects   


About You

You are a communications specialist who likes to get things done. You are curious, creative, and can translate complex information for frontline team members. You are organised, efficient, adaptable and have a solution-focused attitude. You enjoy building strong relationships with team members and stakeholders across the business 


What are we looking for?

  • 5+ years' experience as a communications professional in a large or dynamic organisation 
  • Experience in developing, executing, and evaluating communication plans
  • Excellent understanding of a wide variety of communication channels and techniques, including digital communications 
  • Experience working for organisations in the retail or logistics industry that have a geographically spread workforce is preferred but not essential 
  • Natural curiosity about issues and developments about current news issues, and in the broader community socio- political environment 
  • Creative, organised and efficient 
  • Experience with creative production process, e.g. video, graphic design and event management 
  • Demonstrated project management skills 
  • Understanding of issues and reputational impact
