Help us deliver like never before
Australia Post is delivering like never before. From the vehicles that we drive, to the small businesses that make our communities thrive. We’re delivering for the environment, for our communities, for our customers and for our people. We’re moving forward and we want you to come along for the ride.

About the opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced Supervisor to join our StarTrack team at our Chullora facility. In this pivotal role, you’ll manage and motivate a team of freight handlers, ensuring safe and efficient unloading of freight for our fleet. With your leadership, you’ll drive performance, uphold safety standards, and ensure every shipment is handled with care.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a high-performing team that is focused on delivering outstanding results and creating a culture of continuous improvement. You’ll work closely with the Duty Manager and collaborate with the broader network to ensure seamless operations.

What you’ll deliver with us

  • Leadership: Guide and mentor your team to ensure exceptional performance and safety standards are met.
  • Operational Excellence: Manage daily operations, including the unloading of freight and meeting KPIs for cost, productivity, and scanning compliance.
  • Collaboration: Foster strong relationships with internal teams and stakeholders across different locations to improve service delivery and performance.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement Lean and Six Sigma principles to improve operational efficiency.

You’ll also

  • Manage and monitor daily rosters to ensure optimal productivity and cost control.
  • Provide the fleet teams with the best possible support to ensure timely and efficient deliveries.
  • Lead by example, promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork.
  • Address workplace changes, incidents, and conflicts in a timely, consultative manner.

About you

You are a proactive and hands-on leader with proven experience in operations and logistics. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, have a keen eye for detail, and excel at motivating and developing your team. You’re passionate about safety and have a strong track record of driving continuous improvement.

You’ll also need

  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience in operational management roles, preferably in logistics or freight handling.
  • Proven ability to manage and improve operational performance in a unionized environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience with Lean and Six Sigma methods to enhance process efficiency.
  • A solid understanding of CoR (Chain of Responsibility) legislation, OH&S (Operational Health and Safety) policies, and industry best practices.
  • Analytical skills to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
  • A hands-on approach to leadership, with a focus on coaching and developing team members.

How we’ll deliver for you

We believe in empowering our employees and fostering a culture of safety, innovation, and performance. We’ll provide you with a supportive work environment, opportunities for growth, and the chance to make an impact. You’ll be part of a team that values collaboration and puts the customer at the heart of everything we do.
