Description & Requirements

  • 6-month part-time contract (potential to extend to permanent depending on business requirements)
  • 25hrs per week across a rotating roster between 6:30am - 7pm (must be available across all those hours)

Help us deliver like never before
As our Van Driver (Postal Transport Officer) based out of the Pinkenba Van Facility, you’ll be operating and delivering in our vans as the face of our trusted business, at the heart of your community and connecting Australians every single day. You might not be working from home, but you’ll be working autonomously out on-the-road, interacting with others and being a team player and it doesn’t get better than that!

You’ll be:
  • Required to safely perform and operate a van to perform duties such as picking up mail from Street Posting Boxes, Corporate Offices, Licensed Post Offices and Delivery Centres
  • Required to pick up mail and parcel items from our customers
  • Unload mail articles from vans and manually sorting them into small or large letters and parcels including express posts
  • Completing your own daily vehicle safety check
  • Paired up with our experienced senior drivers, who are committed to engage and take part in your professional development

About you
  • You hold a full or probationary Australian driver’s licence and have a good driving history
  • You have experience driving a van or similar size vehicle (all our vans are automatic)
  • You’ll successfully pass our pre-employment mandatory and practical driving assessment
  • You are flexible with working additional hours if required
  • You have a great memory, excellent attention to detail and can lift up to 16kgs of Mail and Parcels regularly
  • You will need to meet our safe working load limit of weighing 130kgs or less

  • Base pay is $30.28 per hour plus 12% superannuation (shift penalties of 15% will apply when working past 6pm)

Training and Support

At Australia Post, our training and induction programs offer support to ensure we set you up for success. You will attend an induction in your first week with our Learning and Development Team followed by a site-specific induction at your respective facility and additional online learning modules. As a new employee, you will receive one-on-one coaching, followed by regular check-ins with your Manager and Trainer to track progress, provide feedback, and discuss any support needed. We assess development at the end of each month during your probationary period, with adjustments or additional training as required. The program includes site-specific inductions and hands-on training, building employees up to full delivery capacity within six weeks. Our approach is flexible, ensuring long-term success and continuous growth.
