Help us deliver like never before
We’re looking for a Data Steward Partner to join our diverse, talented and innovative digital technology team who together are helping our customers and communities build a better future. Together, we design, build and maintain products, services and experiences that Australian's love and trust, while delivering a sustainable future for Australia Post, and you could be part of that. We're empowered to deliver for our teams and to delight our customers. We provide an inclusive and supportive environment that nurtures talented people, trusts our teams to deliver their best, and leverages modern work practices and technologies. It's an unexpectedly dynamic and collaborative culture that feels more like a start-up than a 213-year old icon.
What you’ll deliver with us
The Data Steward Partner plays a critical enablement role, partnering closely with the federated data steward community and strategic data initiatives to support and uplift stewardship capability. This role helps business-aligned stewards efficiently meet their data governance and quality responsibilities, so they can quickly unlock value from trusted data. Embedded in domains and programs, the Data Steward Partner bridges enterprise standards with local needs. They provide hands-on support, promote the use of enabling tools and practices, and accelerate adoption of scalable stewardship processes across the enterprise.
This position has a commercial and strategic priority aspect to it where you will support business units to realise value from trusted data by enabling efficient stewardship practices. As part of this it’s critical to embed stewardship uplift into transformation initiatives and domain-level governance efforts. A goal of this role is to contribute to enterprise data governance goals through effective domain-level execution. This is a new role in the team so we are looking for someone who can build trusted relationships and a sense of community among stewards.
You’ll also
- Actively partner with Data Stewards across business units to understand their data governance responsibilities and challenges.
- Provide tailored advisory, support, and hands-on assistance to help stewards embed governance practices into day-to-day operations.
- Represent local steward perspectives in community forums and enterprise platform evolution.
- Help deliver onboarding, training and uplift support for stewardship tools (e.g. Collibra) and practices.
- Promote the use of scalable standards, templates and workflows to streamline effort and reduce duplication.
- Act as a first-line enabler and problem-solver for stewardship activities and data quality initiatives.
- Contribute to the Data Stewardship Community of Practice by sharing insights, feedback and peer support.
- Support the monitoring of adoption and maturity uplift through feedback and performance metrics.
About you
It’s key to have strong coaching skills, with ability to work collaboratively across functions. You will use your communication skill to provide clear guidance and training to users at all levels, and effectively present solution findings and recommendations to tech and non-tech stakeholders. Analytical skills are also key as you will need to identify, assess, and remediate data quality & management issues. If you have experience supporting business data teams or federated data governance models then that is a bonus.
You’ll also need
- Background in education, consulting, data governance, training/coordination, or enablement roles
- Experience running a program to uplift level of knowledge within an organisation is highly regarded
- Experience working in large-scale enterprise environments or with technology functions
- Ability to interpret and apply data governance standards to real-world scenarios (useful but not a dealbreaker)
- Strong communication, facilitation and process documentation skills
- Knowledge of data governance tools (Collibra) functionality and application in a business context is advantageous
- Ability to apply data quality standards, processes, and tools.
- Experience in providing user training and support, with a focus on enhancing tool adoption and effectiveness.
